In unity there is strength.
Maybe - but often it's better to have business competition  ;D
Combining the two, should result in one that's better than the rest of the competition.  :)

For me paying $1.3 billion is steep, what is it that they are paying for (products and or user base). In either case they are going to want to recover that investment.

Now the $64,000 question (excuse the pun), how do they plan to do that.
Windows 10 Home 2004 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 21.2.2455 (build 21.2.6096.648) UI 1.0.608/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Since AVG is already a publicly traded Company, it makes getting listed on the Exchange easier. :)

I though Avast had gone though this process some time ago, but ended up with some investors ?

Avast decided not too, since the market at that time, was not favorable.

Why would avast! change their business model which apparently works? If it wasn't working, they wouldn't be expanding this much and buying a rival company for 1.3 billion. That's not something done by companies that struggle... Of course things change and adapt so it can't be for certain, but as it is, I don't think much will change in terms of avast!'s business model.

I thought the remark was a bit childish there and isn't any more mature here. :)

Agreed +1

It's amazing how many twits will crawl out from under their rock to state some stupid remark they think is humorous.

When you pay $1.3 billion for a company I somehow doubt it is going to be a merged or reinvented name, what would be the point of that.

They'll just assimilate it inside avast! brand. Anything else would make no sense...
