Trying out a new toy.
Screen capture, file sharing and productivity tool

ShareX - https://getsharex.com/

Interesting.

Perhaps a few days late for me, I have just managed to get my old version of SnagIt and managed to recover license.  The latest version was £45.71 one off payment.  Having already made that one of payment many years ago, so I didn't want to repeat that purchase.  When my XP system went down (I still haven't got round to finding the problem) I have used several free screen capture apps, none really a patch on snagit.

I managed to have TechSmith Support do a search on my old email address (no longer active) for my license and they found it.  What surprised me was SnagIt 10.1 works on Win10.  The last supported version reported on the site is, 13 May 2014: Snagit v12.0.0.  So version 10.1 is even older.
The one I suggested is free. Adding it to your arsenal doesn't deplete your bankaccount. :)
By the way, the program also generated the code to simply post on the forum that shows you the small image in the forum with access to the full image.

Yes that may be the case, but I got really familiar/comfortable with SnagIt over the many years I have used it.  A bit like an old pair of comfortable slippers, you don't want to through them away :)

Having managed to get TechSmith to find my old license, I was able to install the 10.0.2 version and from there I was able to update at a reduced price.

uMatrix development has ended
https://www.ghacks.net/2020/09/20/umatrix-development-has-ended/

That is a shame, but those using it can continue using it, but no further updates, which isn't too bad.

I would certainly find an off-line installer that was mentioned, should you ever need to install it from scratch.

EDIT: Found a source https://github.com/gorhill/uMatrix/releases/tag/1.4.0 you need to save as to get the .xpi file.  There are other beta builds and developer stuff but this was the last regular release version.

Caveat: the version linked above can only be installed in Firefox Developer/Nightly.

The official version (hosted on AMO) is: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/umatrix/.

It appears to be the same version, 1.4.0 and if you already have it installed the Mozilla  only gives the option to remove (if you were hoping to preserve a copy).

Hi Dave.

It is the same (latest) version; that's why I posted the link to AMO  ;)

I don't understand this - you can't uninstall anything from AMO.  If you want a copy of the xpi, right click the "Add to Firefox" button and choose "Save Link As..."

From that link you gave, if you already have it installed, it didn't give an option to download.  Presumably it would only install (not download, if you were looking to save a copy).

Since I did have it installed the big button said 'Remove' not Uninstall (which would presumably be the action)'

I still use Speccy 64bit portable for system stats http://www.ccleaner.com/speccy it might be getting a little long in the tooth, but it provides a wealth of information.
