Oddly enough, if you go to Europe and you tell them about Upload/Download Caps they look at you in sort of disbelieve.

Totally wrong there as most ISP have a download cap and most of those are pathetic the average being around 10GB, many are obviously less than the average and those with higher are invariably more expensive.

Many advertise as unlimited, then they have a fair use clause for those that they say are abusing (the unlimited) bandwidth and then they lower your download speed, traffic shaping they call it. This traffic shaping also happens when there are higher numbers on-line even if you aren't breaking any limit.

Opera Unite: a Web server on the Web browser

With Opera 10, we are introducing a new technology called Opera Unite, radically extending what you are able to do online.
Opera Unite harnesses the power of today's fast connections and hardware, allowing all of us to help define the future landscape of the Web,
one computer at a time. Read about how Opera Unite is going to change the way we interact on the Web on labs.opera.com.

To check out the results of using this new service, take a look at a web server I've set up:
http://mysharedfiles.bob3160.operaunite.com/Windows7/content/

Here's a picture of what it looks like:

We seem to have gotten off on an ISP restriction discussion.

Has any one else tried the server side of the latest Opera version ?

Hmh, I might have been more specific. I was basing my statement on feedback from friends and relatives from Romania. This is where i generalized which was not good on my part. However to be honest I never inquired about the fair use clause. This might be present and most of them might no be aware. Regardless I appreciate your (DavidR) reply. I have a tendency to let my mouth talk before i think (well fingers type before...How would you refer to that expression in this case?).

@ bob3160
Sorry for the diversion. I find the idea more than interesting. It allows IMHO the average user to set up a web page with no middle man. At least I hope i got the idea right. From my perspective this is unatainable since I have a 1GB upload+download limit  :'(

It's different from country to country here in EU, probably the UK ISP's are the worst when it comes to caps ... Over here in my country there are no caps, download and upload as much as you like. I remember when i first got broadband, i was downloading stuff like crazy for a few months, download was always at max speed, modem was hot as hell lol.  ;D

Why can't we get free High speed internet  ;D

But why, Just say you have a 20MB connection, you download around 1000KBs and not 20,000KBs?

The main reason of Untiny is that some of the tiny services are blocked in some countries
although the original long URL is not blocked. Untiny retrieves the original URL so you can access it -
if it is not blocked too. Untiny is NOT a proxy breaker!
