Is Your Computer Ready For Windows 7?

If your thinking of upgrading, it's never to early to make sure your current system is ready. :)
Thank you Bob.  :)
Your welcome. Hope your computer got a green light. ( I tested it on a system already running Windows 7 RC :) )

I have the picture of the 1500 piece puzzle in front of me and now with the 1500 pieces spread before me I can't even find the edge pieces.

It still looks like Evaluation copy. Build 7100 from the file name.

October is cooler and Octoberfest time so I think I'll wait to look for a die Festhalle, das Bierzelt, der Bierkrug, die Blaskapelle, der Familiennachmittag, mit die Bratwurst mit Sauerkraut.

What a waste of time!

Its still Evaluation copy. Build 7100

I guess one needs to splurge on a Technet subscription for about $400/year to get access to RCs.

Build7100 is the RC version.   7600 is the RTM version which has been release to PC manufacturers. :)

Really stupid question, but how do you go from RC to final version. By this I mean how do you transition from this pre-official release version to the final version that will be shipped sometime in December.

Will you pay for serial key and input that into the RC or how?  ???

Sorry to bug you with this but I'm just curious.

You can put in the rtm dvd and do an upgrade of the os. During the install it will ask you for your serial ...

I just had a thought, i've used this method to install build 7600(don't ask me where i got the key) over 7264(and a few earlier builds before that) but all of these were the Ultimate version. I think this upgrade method doesn't work if you want to install the Home version over the RC(RC is Ultimate), really not sure about the Professional version ... So if you get Win 7 Home i think you'll have to do a complete reinstall. I'm gonna do a reinstall anyways after i get my hands on a legal copy of Win 7 rtm, cause i really want to do it "clean" not to mention i'm a "pirate" right now and don't feel comfortable with that. Back when i first installed the RC i just did an upgrade from Vista to Win 7 RC and then a few more upgrades as more RC builds were available. Not saying that there's something broken over here but i really think a complete reinstall is the best option to avoid any potential issues that may arise with all this upgrading i did.

Cheers !
