After all those reverse engineer issues with IObit, I just found this article. It may be old but, hope you enjoy reading.

Chrome antics: did Google reverse-engineer Windows? | Ars Technica
A close look at Chrome's source code suggests that
Google has reverse engineered Windows. The goal?
Improved security, which is very laudable, but there's
just one small problem: reverse engineering is expressly
forbidden by the Windows EULA.

if confirmed, this one is gonna hurt...

edit: the article also mentions
Quote
Even if Google did disassemble Windows, it's rather unlikely that Microsoft would take legal action against the company for Chrome. A right to reverse engineering is widespread, and proving that Google didn't use third-party information would be nigh impossible. But should there even be any question of legality? Even if Microsoft provided the most basic documentation (the names of functions and the data they operate on), this would probably be good enough for the work Google has done in Chrome.

so  ?? ...

edit: lol I didn't see you said the article was old. I read some of it and posted it as news on another forum where the guys there told me it was from 2008, oh my god  :-[

Listed below is a link to a directory of DLL files and EXE files, including Windows system processes and tasks, known system files, and various spyware and adware files. Clicking each file name will identify the purpose of any of the files listed in this directory:

I have used that site quite a few times on this forum in the past as an information reference in my posts.

It is not necessarily installed on a separate partition. It's a file that contains the virtual pc so if it gets messed up you can just delete it and make a new one.  Microsoft has a free one and so does Virtualbox http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads. For pay version there is VMware http://communities.vmware.com/home.jspa. You do need a good amount of ram to make one run well. I use them to test freeware before loading on real oc. They are also useful for teaching.
