Sounds like Bill's experiment was wildly successful.  ;D

The bad results is due to my under estimating the popularity of this offer. Normally I would be able to handle the support for thousands of new users. WinPatrol is easy to use and understand so my support Email is usually simple. Unfortunately, a failure in the step that creates PLUS codes has increased my Email today.

When folks purchase the PLUS upgrade it’s via a 3rd party storefront or PayPal which can easily handle the traffic. At the completion of the order they’re sent back to WinPatrol.com where we create a PLUS activation code. Unfortunately, this is the point where our web traffic is backed up.

If you’ve purchased WinPatrol PLUS but didn’t get your PLUS code just Email support@WinPatrol.com. I’m working as quickly as possible to make sure everyone receives their PLUS code so they can activate WinPatrol PLUS.

I am a user of WinPatrol Plus but I have never found any malware with it. I don't think I have any use.

How does it help?

Prevention of course.

It isn't looking for malware as such but monitoring your system for changes, etc. that could inducate the presence of malware. I suggest you spend some time looking at the settings and functions and you will see exactly what it does.

@ DavidR

Yeah, I really didn't look much into it. Only now I started looking into it. This is why, I used to get confirmation pop ups whenever I installed a new software with regards to start up and other changes.

WinPatrol has never alerted me to malware on my computer either, but that's because I practice safe hex and malware hasn't gotten on my computer in the first place.  If I ever screw up and let malware on somehow, WinPatrol is one of the many tools I have installed which may detect it and help mitigate any damage.

What WinPatrol does do for me is alert me when a program install makes changes to my system that I might not otherwise know about such as adding Startup Programs, IE Helpers and Toolbars, Scheduled Tasks, Services, ActiveX additions, etc.  Many programs that aren't malware make changes like this.  I want to know about them and sometimes disable the changes, especially unwanted additions to Startup Programs and Services.

Some friendly email advice to cut down on spam

Any time you see an E-Mail that says forward this on to "10" of your friends, or sign this petition,
or you'll get bad luck, good luck, or whatever,  it almost always has an  E-Mail tracker program attached
that tracks the cookies and E-Mails of those folks you forward to.
The host sender is getting a copy each time it gets forwarded and then is able to get lists of "active" E-Mails
to use in SPAM E-Mails, or sell to other spammers.

Almost all E-Mails that ask you to add your name and forward on to others are similar to that mass letter
years ago that asked people to send business cards to the little kid in Florida who wanted to break the Guinness Book
of Records for the most cards.
All it was, and all any of this type of E-Mail is, is a way to get names and "cookie" tracking information for telemarketers
and spammers - - to validate active E-Mail accounts for their own profitable purposes.

If you have been sending out (FORWARDING) the above kinds of E-Mail, now you know why you get so much SPAM!

Do yourself a favor and STOP adding your name(s) to those types of listings regardless how inviting they might sound!
You may think you are supporting a GREAT cause, but you are NOT in the long run. Instead, you will be getting tons of junk mail later!
Plus, we are helping the spammers get rich! Let's don't make it easy for them!

Also: E-Mail petitions are NOT acceptable to Congress or any other organization. To be acceptable,
petitions must have a signed signature and full address of the person signing the petition.

FINAL TIP:  DELETE ALL EMAILS ADDRESSES WHEN FWDG & SEND BCC ONLY, THIS ALSO ELIMINATES SPAM.

there's also the case of infected mails harvesting people's address books and sending spam/scam to every one in it, I've seen this happen recently.

I just received this and thought it might interest every one:

Hi Bob!

Firstly, I just wanted to thank you from all of us at Device Doctor for your support. Our little free driver app has become more popular than we ever imagined. Since we don't send emails often, this was a good opportunity to mention it!

Today saw the release of our U3-compatible Device Doctor installer, designed for USB drives with U3 technology. It installs easily and resides silently on your USB key until the moment you need it, ready to scan any computer for the latest driver updates - very handy!

Download Device Doctor U3 installer from our Builds page:

http://www.devicedoctor.com/device-doctor-builds.php

There you will also find our standard portable version for those with non-U3 drives. Let your techie friends know about it too, it is 100% free, just like Device Doctor!

Best from Canada,

Collin, Device Doctor team.

A great way to keep your drivers updated.  The price is also right.  ;D

Google Buzz Explained

Google today announced a new service, Google Buzz, that automatically brings social networking into Gmail and the rest of the Google-sphere.
Whether or not you're big on social networking sites like Twitter or Facebook, Google Buzz offers a somewhat new and intriguing approach.
