@ mkis
This may be an Office 2010 compatibility issue then perhaps (which they are working on I believe). Try checking if the avast plug-in is running (or even installed) in MS Outlook ?

If not then the Mail Shield would be doing the scanning and not the avast plug-in within MS Outlook. Then you would have to treat the email accounts inside MS Outlook as you would for another email client, e.g. remove any SSL requirement in the Outlook email account settings.

This would also mean you have to wait for compatibility before avast would work with that version of Outlook (which is reported as what ?).

Looks like reason enough to start my own topic David. I will have to wait until I am back on that computer.

I will put the time aside today sometime, and we see how we go. Thank you for the input, always appreciated.

[Windows 7 Fix] Deleting 1000+ Files in a Single Batch Deletes them Permanently and Don’t Put Them in Recycle Bin
Actually its a bug in Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2. Deleting 1000+ files deletes them permanently and don't put them in Recycle Bin. Microsoft has confirmed this bug and has released updates to fix the issue.

Lee Koo question of the week at cnet.com
Windows XP: Why is my CPU running at 100 percent, when only three windows are open?!

http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6142_102-0.html?threadID=393158

Can be rather tedious working through the answers.
But interesting that such a common problem can manifest in so many different scenarios.

Software piracy continues global rise

The industry body says that losses from software piracy amounted to $51.4bn (£34.8bn) in 2009.

It singled out computer users in the Asia Pacific region as the source of the biggest dollar losses in the world.

But, it says, there are also positive signs, as the rate of piracy declined in more than 50 countries, and rose in only 19.

In the UK, 27% of software in use was found to be pirated, a figure that has remained steady for the last few years.

yeah the interface is terrible...and broken too...they suggested this should be the end of emails... a complete revolution :D I haven't read yet anything from someone who liked it. I suppose they will either have to abandon the project or leave it forever in Google labs.
