Software patents are a grey area, or should be. There are only so many ways you can code particular operations and there is bound to be unintentional duplication of some processes. Of course blatant ripoffs should be dealt with but I am inclined to think that Finjan is looking for some easy money from a jury that knows little about the intricacies of software creation.

last giveaway of the day posted here offered me, although I rejected it during the set up, about a hundred "ask.com" registry entries to get rid of...corresponding to an "ask.com" program file folder ::): the download was nero lite. No toolbar was installed though, and the entries in the registry were no threat, but I just hate to see my system rotten with such crap.

And to add to that I'd probably use Comodo Time Machine as they are a more widely known company and they offer the program freely at all times and not via a "Giveaway".

Try a search about comodo time machine and you will see it has its own issues, known company or not.

No. You don't have the same features. It's on-the-fly backup and not by image maker.

I totally agree, everything has a problem sometime, but between the two I'd without question choose Comodo, they have a better reputation and a support forum, just all around to me at least a much better option of these two programs. 8)

Well, I frequent the Comodo forums and there are more than a few people who have had their PC's turn into non booting bricks after trying Time Machine. It messes with your boot sector and inserts itself in there. The most problems have come when people uninstalled it and then could not boot up any more.

#! is you should always have a backup plan in place, in the event a problem with CTM occurs recovery plans should have been made which would mean less a hardware failure not booting shouldn't be a big deal. As a whole Comodo offers a good deal for nothing, they indeed do have an overall good reputation regardless of the problems. Comodo offers a lot of different programs so sure they will have problems, think about it this way, HP/Compaq are pretty much the highest failure/repaired laptops but that is in a large part due to the fact they do a larger volume than other companies, the more products and users the more problems you are going to have, Comodo is no different. I am not staff or a fan so to speak but I certainly know more people would know of Comodo than would know of Genie backup or whatever the app mentioned was, that is/was my only point, why pay (since it was only free for that 24 hr period) for a somewhat unknown software when a free option from another is available to you... Keep in mind also that you'll generally hear of the problems people have and not the praises, so although I haven't a clue the statistics I am sure there are many satisfied people that use whatever program is chosen while you really only hear and read of the horror stories. If we stay focused on the exact comment then what I stated holds true, if however we start to just use a generalization of Comodo with the multitude of apps then we begin to deviate from the topic enough to comment on and refer to an overall view. I am only saying between the two Comodo is more known as a company and the fact they have a user forum like Avast does here makes support a bit easier and accessible. I truly have no interest in the back and forth about who beats who and what not, just that one is free and more known at least and the other is less known and costs, I never said it will without question work better.
