Chrome Near 12%, IE And Firefox Decline

http://www.conceivablytech.com/7114/business/chrome-near-12-ie-and-firefox-decline
http://marketshare.hitslink.com/browser-market-share.aspx?qprid=0

I am trying out the latest Chrome and I have to say I like it a lot more than the earlier versions. I just wish there was a button for the bookmarks instead of having to show the whole bar.

there is a button for the bookmarks (those not in the bookmark bar)... it's called "other bookmarks", appears like a folder but that's a button. Meaning that you can leave the bookmark toolbar empty if you don't like it, and even go to tools and uncheck "always show bookmark bar", or hit ctr+shift+B ... wonderful no? ;D

No, it's not. You still have to show the bookmarks bar to see that folder icon. I found an extension that puts a star icon to the right of the address bar and lets me access the bookmarks without ever using the bar.

sorry you're right ;)... I always got the bookmark bar displayed and I forgot about that. This also explains why the "other bookmarks" is shown as a folder and not a button, it's part of the toolbar content.

no idea if that's really interesting...
BitBox: The Most Secure Firefox 4 Package?
http://www.conceivablytech.com/7318/products/bitbox-the-most-secure-firefox-4-package

download it here (if you want to...):
http://www.sirrix.com/content/pages/57064.htm

Quote
A German security company released a version of Firefox 4 that runs independent of the operating system on a client PC and automatically contains malware that may be downloaded via Firefox.

Quote
The browser version, originally developed upon request by the German government, is quite possibly the most secure browser you can use today. The software called BitBox (Browser-in-the-box) Virtualbox 4.04 comes as a self-contained package with a stripped version of Debian 6 Linux and runs within a virtual machine environment. The browser itself is isolated from the actual host computer, which does not have access to websites when the Sirrix browser is used.

ps: web site fonts are terrible ::)

Interesting concept, but I'm not so sure I want to be that isolated from the system.

On my win7 system, which can't run DropMyRights, I have been using sandboxie for added browsing protection and even that can be a bit of a pain when downloading stuff as it saves it in the sandboxie downloads, so it has to be copied out of there.

... yeah I won't try it either tbh, thought just that the news was interesting, sounds like that's a Linux VM with just Firefox from what I read, and I don't need that either.

Alternatively, just run Firefox on Debian, and permanently "browse websites without concerns that your PC will be infected and ignore “usual advice” how to avoid malware on the web".

I got it to download but it's over a gig in size for the zip file.
