If you have a long URL to copy and paste to a forum, email, notepad, Office or any clipboard
and you want to copy it to any of the above than use Google Url Shortener.
Just enter the long URL into:
http://goo.gl/

There is also an extension for your Chrome browser which makes this very easy:
Get the extension here

Just as an example:
https://docs.google.com/uc?id=0B-vSic0iJgyeMjVkMmMyNzAtMzgyYy00OGE5LThmNDMtMjQzY2FlMWFkOWEx&export=download&hl=en_US
turns into

I'm afraid I will always take the long URL over any shortened one...

URL Shorteners certainly have a purpose, but they give me the chills as you haven't a clue what they point to and are often used to obscure. Unless of course you have another add-on to expand them, such as LongURL Mobile Expander, don't you just love the name (fortunately it works quite well).

See image2, click the More to see more details if the little window isn't big enough, image2.
