No, I just try to balance the brightness so it isn't too harsh at night or not bright enough by day.Give it a try, it might be different to you, but for me the colour just seemed wrong in the evenings.

Win + X (Win 7, and only that because my Fn + F keys to change brightness don't always work...)Mine stays at minimum pretty much all the time, except when I can't see it because of sunlight I know it is not an option for all, but works for me...

No bob. It does really updates the drivers. It is manual though.
