Hotspot Shield creates a virtual private network (VPN) between your laptop and the wireless router.
This impenetrable tunnel prevents snoopers and hackers from viewing your email, instant messages,
credit card information or anything else you send over a wireless network.
Which means you remain anonymous and protect your privacy.

Java is not JavaScript - tell your friends!

Turning off Java will not turn off JavaScript.

Click on this link to find out how to turn off Java in your browser.

Almost every day we're made aware of another security breach in Java.
Do you really want to wait till your system is compromised before you
finally take action or,  follow these simple steps to prevent such a disaster
from happening in the first place.

Don't put off until tomorrow what you could have prevented today.

No Java and JavaScript are not the same but many people play Java based games and will not give them up. One of those people is here in this house. She's a Yahoo games addict and would never disable it. One of the most popular games out there is also Java based. A little thing called Minecraft.

I have not disabled it yet either (and most likely won't) even though it only gets used once in a blue moon.

Here's another tool that you can use to accomplish the task:

JavaRA 2.1 – Removes old and redundant versions of the Java Runtime Environment.
Simply select “Check for Updates” or “Remove Older Version” to begin.

VideoLAN Movie Creator is a very early alpha, but can handle a number of video formats, basic editing, a small collection of effects,
and more. It doesn't come close to the powerhouse that is Premier, but if you just need to do some simple editing, or add a soundtrack
to your home movie, VideoLAN Movie Creator does the trick.
(Please note, this is an early alpha release.)

@ Bob, it's the same developer as VLC right? thanks for the info.

edit: yes it is.

edit again: seems like the alpha hasn't been updated since 2010

Sometimes answering ones own question, is a sign of maturity. (old age.....)

Yes, but if you get the wrong answer and then get into an argument with yourself, that could be a sign of something else. Especially if you lose the argument.
