@Damien,
This program makes the Endpoint Protection available to Schools, Libraries and Colleges.
It's not a case of installing the free version of avast! on each child's computer. :)

I stress this great initiative from Avast at the very beginning of my presentation.

I'm sure that's the ultimate hope of Avast. If Avast can keep the entire school system's computers safe,
It stands to reason that a simple personal computer would be a breeze to protect.
Hopefully the information about what's protecting the Schools and Libraries computers is passed along to those that
use these computers.  :)

btw, just hovering your mouse over the shortened url link does the same thing.  All one has to do is look down to the lower left-hand corner and read the highlight box down there to see what it says.  Full url address is always displayed.

Built-in feature of all versions of Windows/browsers (and other os's) as far as I know.

Let me correct your assumption.
Hovering your mouse over a "descriptive" link will reveal the actual web address associated with that descriptive link. (As you can see, it's still only the shortened lik)
Hovering your mouse over a shortened link simply repeats that shortened link.
Hope that clarifies things and emphasizes the benefit of this little useful service. :)

Shortened urls and descriptive links are not the same thing.  For example, here in the virus forum, the master himself used such a shortened url and renamed it as "McShieldhttp://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=132207.0  See reply # three.  He uses such all the time.

However, when I run into a similar descriptive link as the examples such as you've kindly provided above, I just don't click them.  Posting the entire link as I've always done is, I think, the best course of action for most users surfing the 'net.  That way, they can see where they are going, and directly, too.

The point is that shortened links are used all the time and the tool affords you the opportunity to verify their authenticity.
Hovering your mouse over those shortened links doesn't help since it only repeats the shortened link.

I started used privdog a few weeks ago and am impressed.
It doesn't interfere with anything, my performance seems better if anything.

It says it is blocking a lot of things that I would like blocked, but I would like to see more detail.
What is it actually doing behind the scenes.

Does anyone know if they are planning new features?
