Come on guys, lets keep it to the topic.
Avast have made a mistake with the VPS and users have the right to be angry.
They've now taken precautions to ensure it doesn't happen in the future.
Okay. On topic, Avast didn't do anything to inform people about this. They just gave the bare minimum repose when directly questioned. Basically they've kept a low profile and hoped that the majority of their users didn't notice something was wrong. Remember the majority of Avast users aren't even aware of this, and some might have even deleted improtant files due to it, completely unaware that Avast was malfunctioning.
If that''s how the react to something like this, what would they do if some virus managed to breach their security? Would they tell us, or just lie low? Maybe it's
already happened. How would we know? The SNAFU was bad, but Avast's (non) response to it is what I find inexcusable. They covered their own behind at the expense of ours. So I for one, don't trust them anymore. And if I don't trust
them I sure don't want to rely on
their software to protect my computer. So after several years as an Avast customer, I've asked for a refund and switched to a different AV program.
Good Luck and best wishes to those who chose to remain with Avast.
