avast's old implementation of XML & ODBC
« on: June 18, 2006, 03:56:58 AM »
I've been asleep at the switch for a while (in dream-land), and just noticed today that version 4.7 of avast! seemingly no longer uses XML or ODBC for the VRDB database.  I see this as an improvement... especially for older OSes like Win98 that often benefited from switching ODBC to XML...

Question:  How long ago did it change (was it between version 4.6 and 4.7?) and what system does the database now use?  (i.e. I guess there is no need to now tweak (modify) the VRDB database file settings in avast4.ini -- as it is now implemented better?!)

Thanks in advance!   :)
