Real Site component
« on: October 24, 2018, 08:11:24 PM »
Dear Support and Forum,

I would like to send a feedback about „Real Site” function of Avast Internet security which is under the settings\components. This component filters the unkind websites based on any central database. It is very good functions I would use it but it means so that I cannot use custom collection and "Real Sites" component parallelly. For example, currently I operate dnsmasq service on my router and in my network I’m blocking ~400 fake websites. The problem is that, if the “Real Site” is enabled, my custom service doesn’t work unfortunately (= fake news can be loaded in browser), if it is disabled, the custom black list works well. (now it is disabled, because my custom blacklist is more important)

Technically I don’t know how your function works in background, maybe there is any vpn connection for "Real Site" and communication is hidden/encoded and the router cannot see them. It would be better if both solution can be worked.

Thank you for your supporting.

Hi itcrowd,

You can uninstall this component.  You can also do a custom install or modify installed features after installation.

Go to Programs and Features (or similar) and choose Change.

Reboot when done.
Windows 10 Home 64-bit 22H2 Avast Premier Security version 24.1.6099 (build 24.1.88821.762)  UI version 1.0.797
 UI version 1.0.788.  Windows 11 Home 23H2 - Windows 11 Pro 23H2 Avast Premier Security version 24.2.6105 (build 24.1.8918.827) UI version 1.0.801

Dear mchain,
I can uninstall the Real Site component, but there is not any addition option for install.
The Real Site means that the avast uses any secureDNS for Anti-hijack protection, and it avoids specified DNS servers. It is not too lucky because
* if the user want to use any specified DNS servers (for example ISP DNS) and other DNS server are excluded (because it is more safety) in user's network, the avast can override this rule in browser communication.
* if the user build custom DNS server for specified blocking (for malwaredomains.com, NoBitCoin, openphish domain or host files and custom blacklist file) it won't work.

It doesn't matter I will keep to disable it in Avast. :(

OK, but it is not question, avast cannot answer for this, because there is not solution. The SecureDNS doesn't support other DNS service in network on the client computer. It is not supporting from Avast side.  >:( >:( >:(
