 :)  Hi 60 :

Those 2 are the malware "versions" of the "bdcore" that
     is causing the trouble .
Are you able to download programs ? I wonder because
you did not do that with the excellent Ewido that has
     been recommended !?

OK, here I go again! (1) I believe it was a grogram.  I use a firewall sygate  adware, sypwareblaster, ccleaner.
When there is a program update, the firewall (Sygate) will detect that the avast components have been changed and will ask you again for permition to connect.
If not, you can delete the avast entries into the Sygate programs settings and add the again using avast (booting, updating, etc.).

It only happens when I log on.
So change (or add) AlwaysConnectedWaitSeconds value into the [InetWD] section of avast4.ini file.
You could set the number of seconds to wait before attempting to update. The default is 30 but it may not be enough in some DSL systems. In this case, you can try increasing this e.g. to 60 (1 minute). That should be enough. More details here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=1647

Yes I can manually update, it says Iam up to date..   I have DSL....
So, seems it's not a Sygate problem...

I do not understand about overwrite either?
I was telling you to overwrite the servers.def file. You can download servers.def from here: http://download1.avast.com/iavs4x/servers.def
Save it to C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\setup folder overwritting the 'old' file there. Start the update again.

 :)  Hi 60 :

When you wanted to put Avast on your computer, did you
click the "Run" or "Save" button/tab ? The same applies
to all programs you want to install on your computer .

By the way, what were the "Results" of the Ewido Online
      Scan you ran ?
