What are sp@avast.com.xpi files?
« on: August 28, 2020, 01:59:30 AM »
Hi, I'm currently running Avast Premium Security, but I can't remember if that's the only version I've ever had installed on this computer.
My C: drive is getting full, so I'm using TreeSize to show me which files are taking up a lot of space.
I have 2.5Gb in a folder C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\appdata\local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\IE which is 708 files, all 3.7MB in size and the files are all a version of sp@avast.com.xpi (10 or those), or the rest sp@avast.comXXXXXXXX.xpi where the XX's are a random bunch of letters/numbers.
Looks like the dates are one or two files per day for the last year, from 31/7/2019 to two this morning (3 minutes apart) 28/8/2020 (Australian time).

Can I just delete some of these older files? I'm guessing they just look like archives of some kind, but how do I stop them accumlating in the future?

Thanks for any help

Hi, the .xpi filename extension is used by Mozilla for add-ons, so no idea how this might be related to IE.
