New browser version 88.0

Hello everyone,

We’re pleased to announce that we have released a new version of Avast Secure Browser (ASB) for Windows - version 88.0. This version will be rolled out to all our customers over the next few weeks.

Changes
  • Renamed “Stealth Mode” to “Private Mode”
  • Improvements of compatibility for importing data from your previous browser

Fixes
  • Improved the overall stability of the Browser
  • Improved speed and stability of Avast Sync
  • Several fixes of displaying the bookmarks
  • Other Chromium 88 fixes
  • Includes a 0-day vulnerability security patch (CVE-2021-21148)
  • Includes a critical security patch (CVE-2021-21117)
  • Minor design improvements and fixes

If you have ASB already installed, it should be updated automatically (feel free to visit ‘secure://settings/help’ to trigger an update faster).

We hope you enjoy the changes we have made, and as always we would love to hear your feedback. Please try our Browser also on your other devices. Next to Windows version, it is available on iOS, Android and MacOS platform and with the new Avast sync, you can synchronize the settings on all of them. You can download the MacOS version here, more information for iOS see here (English locales only), and for Android here or go straight to the App Store or Google Play Store

Hello,

I am still having problems logging into some websites now on Version 88. I was having the same issues all throughout Version 87. The last time I was able to log into my accounts on store sites like Macys.com or Kohls.com on the Secure Browser was with Version 86.

When I go to the regular Chrome browser, I am able to log on to the websites fine. Why are they not allowing me to sign on when in the Secure Browser? I see a few people have mentioned having issues with signing onto some sites with Versions 87 and up.

And I have done a complete uninstall and reinstall of the Secure Browser multiple times and still the same result.

I dont have a screenshot. The website tells me when I try to log in "A Technical Error Has Occurred. Please Call..." (And it gives me a Customer Service number for the store to call).

But what is strange is when I go to my regular Chrome browser, I am able to log into the accounts on the website. Something about the Avast Secure Browser is blocking me from signing onto the websites since Versions 87 and 88 have come out. As I said before, last time I was able to sign in on Secure Browser to those stores was Version 86. Is it something to do with cookies maybe or?

I saw someone else make a topic of having trouble signing into their CaptialOne Bank account as well.

I've reported this to Avast. Let's see if that helps.

my free avast browser blocks the bank modus in windows 10. it says need virusnotification update, but the virusdefinitions are up to date. please help

Thanks for reporting the issue!
Could you please provide more info? Some screenshots and Diagnostic information will help. You can find it in Settings => About Avast Secure Browser => Diagnostic Information.
