Error 112 on install
« on: January 17, 2007, 09:48:00 PM »
Attempting to install Server Edition on a Win2K server and am receiving error 112. This machine did have a trial version installed months ago which was uninstalled successfully using "Add/Remove Programs".  Initial re-installation attempts resulted in Error 80. Downloaded and ran the aswclear utility which resolved error 80, but not 112.

Need help quick on this one. Argued long and hard with the boss to use Avast on our network instead of renewing our Symantec/Norton subscription! :-[

Did you uninstall Norton first, then use the Norton tool SYMNRT to remove all traces?  If not, try uninstalling Avast, uninstal Norton, run SYMNRT from

following the instructions from Symantec, and reinstalling Avast.  Good Luck!

This machine did have a trial version installed months ago which was uninstalled successfully using "Add/Remove Programs".
avast for PC has an antipiracy feature that avoids second installation of the same trial period. The period is reduced from 60 to 6 days.
I don't know if this is the problem with your installation. Are you adding the Server license at the restarting of the server?

When exactly does the error show up? During the installation, after the installation is finished, when the program is started for the first time...?
