also at av-comparatives avg anti-malware is tested. like someone said above, avg anti-malware scores quite much better than avg without ewido. i guess (= i do not know for sure, but it is very probably) avast would score better than avg free.

just moved from avg free and left norton after a few nasty trojans and a windows xp recovery disk.
As for norton well why do so many new computers come with it !!!!
I've just removed a shareware version of Symantec products of my new notebook. No thanks, not even day 1.
The uninstall tools asked me: are you sure you want to lose the 60 day trial period. I did not hesitate.
Now Comodo (beta 3) and avast are running.
I'm an ex AVG and ex Norton. Shame on me, but I learned.
Welcome to avast forums.

Overall results from AV Comparatives are on the site. There are no percentages, just the overall ratings.
Sorry to say that Avast did not do as well as most others including AVGAM, but did again obtain an Advanced rating.
However, it is still a very good application, and I would not change if it has been satisfactory on my system.

Best,
Jerry

I don't see anything on the site for a recent test, the last being May 2007 Retrospective/ProActive Test, No link for Aug 2007, still listed as coming soon.

Edit: Just saw the overview images, I will be nice to see the full report.

Hi David,
Go to the Comparatives link and scroll down until you are just above "Notebook Hardware Control." There you will find the link for the overview as "You...find them here."

Best,
Jerry

Avast is on the right way - it improved further, but it was not enough to get A+ already this time.

report with results will be posted in 24 hours.

Tech: i don't know any official release dates.. but what can i say now is: new poly module detects 25 groups of file infectors, worms and malware scramblers/cryptors and will grow up in near future... this module was released after Clementi's test date, so the last comparatives aren't as good as expected, but all the benefits of systematic work should come starting with next comparatives... somebody maybe think that we're too slow, but for illustration: on 2005 was the daily count of unique files sent to virtotal around 500 files, on 2005 it was ~1000 files and on 2007 it was ~3600 files in average... the 2007's maximum is near 15000 files per day... as you can see, malware authors don't want to give us much time ;D.. i guess Andreas also uses virtotal as one of his sources of samples, so our priorities will be targetted to his set and to virtotal (and of course to virus[at]avast[dot]com and this forum ;) )..

Thanks Maxx for your info.
It's a pity that there isn't any official release dates scheduled... I know Pavel hates scheduling.

I'm doing some reading between the lines of a couple of posts here and possibly getting cross-eyed ;D

Well if they are going to have the new poly module included for any improvement in the February av-comparitives tests then it would have to be in a regular release of avast pro. So I would suspect that it would have to be released to beta testing some reasonable time before a regular program update. So perhaps we might have something to look forward to towards the end of the year.
