Are you using any other antivirus in your computer? Did you use in the past?
Any other security program that could interfere? This is a very strange error as you can imagine, tons of users, like me now, use a browser and avast...

Which firewall are you using and, are you allowing avast in your firewall?

i even faced difficulty in uninstalling Avast.
I suggest an installation from the scratch:

1. Uninstall avast from Control Panel first.
2. Boot.
3. Use Avast Uninstall for complete uninstallation.
4. Boot.
5. Install again the last version.
6. Boot.
7. Check and post the results.

But are you sure you do not have any other security program - now or in the past - that is blocking avast function?

i have configured those proxy settings and all.
Can you restore the default settings?
Which is your Windows? XP? Vista?

I hope you're not complaining against us that are trying to help... Maybe it's a sense of humor that we, non-native English talkers, don't understand.

Yes. Can you try?

By the way, please, post the last 100-150 lines of avast log: C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\log\Setup.log

If so i'll again install Avast.....but i can post here the log only if i uninstall Avast since only then i can open Firefox or any other problems....

It shows what's right and wrong with your installation. If you want us to help, if you want avast back, this is a good source of info. For sure, there is no sense on avast blocking the access to the browsers, this is a work of firewall and avast is not a firewall.

Can you post the contents of this file (it's a extensionless file, open it on Notepad)
C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
