Download performance
« on: March 11, 2022, 01:50:09 PM »
Hello!,

I am having an big issue, I get some shutters everytime I try to download anything at high speed (I have a gigabit connection).

Setup:
- Windows 10 Pro Edition
- Avast Premium Security Edition
- Avast BreachGuard
- Avast Antitrack
- AMD Processor Ryzen 7 1700X
- 32 GB Ram
- SSD Samsung 960 PRO
- I already tested everything below with different network cards and adapters, and those devices gave good results in other computers and laptops without Avast installed.

Testings done:
1- Uninstalled my Avast Premium edition - resulted in no issues at all, not shutters whatsoever.
2- Reinstalled Windows several times
3- Updated Windows at different times
4- Installed different drivers for motherboard components, network cards, network adapters (which resulted in me paying a lot of money trying to figure out the problem was Avast itself).
5- Virgin window with only avast - shutters all the time as soon starts getting at high speed while downloading.

Conclusion: No Avast - not shutters, Avast Installed at any phase = shutters, I spend several days doing all this, I am willing to stay in Avast, but I want to know if its there any configuration in Avast I have missed that I should disable to make this work or if Avast itself requires a fix because it seems like everything you are downloading its pass under an extreme check that make those shutters.

Avast version = Latest version always.
OS = 64 bits, updated to the last version as well.

Like I said in the previous post, I even tried with a virgin windows, I have reinstalled Windows SEVERAL times, and did multiple configurations.

I know you are trying to help, but Skip the part of blaming or thinking about other software doing this, I already tried all that, and as I said, I have tried with virgin window in different circumstances just like:

- Virgin Windows (just installed without anything else) without Avast = no issue
- Virgin Windows + Avast latest version = shutters downloading at high speeds.
- Virgin Windows + latest drivers = not issues ; <- same but with avast = issue appears.
- Virgin Windows + windows updated to the latest update and build = not an issue, <- same with Avast installed = issue appears.
- Virgin Windows + windows updated to latest update and build + latest drivers = not issue, <- same with Avast installed = issue

Also to let you know I have done this test with different equipment at home and same, it's not like a hardware issue, it is an Avast issue dealing with high-speed connection, btw, this is not related to a browser or some specific APP, because it happens in all Apps and browsers (IF) the server has capabilities of a high-speed connection, talking about high speed higher than 400 Mbps. Also, I have spent several months doing tests. I love Avast and I would not change my anti-virus, that's why I am asking for help with a fix bug or something.

For every circumstance, I did reinstall windows from zero (Virgin Windows).

Maybe not everyone has the same issue because most of the people may not have a gigabit connection (not necessarily true), this is not a recent issue, it has been going around for about 3 years since I did put a gigabit connection, and honestly, solution WILL NOT be limit my connection speed.

Dangerous suggestion when most of the web traffic now is https.

Then use the link that Asyn gave to gather information that the devs can analyse.  Right above your first post.

Good luck , hope you find the issue.

Really difficult, lately, when I download something I just try to don't do anything else on PC and let it download, or it hangs and blue screen if I do too many operations in there.

The bad situation is: when I am working and GOG, Steam, or even windows itself are downloading an update.
