Change or uninstall?
« on: January 24, 2008, 05:34:45 PM »
Just installed on new computer using vista. Avast and setup icons keep showing action needs to be taken and when I click continue it does a memory and start up check. It ends with the request to change or uninstall. Yet it seems to be installed. I have shut down and re-started but it keeps cycling through this notice and instruction. Any thoughts? Using mozilla but IE still on my computer.

Try to fully uninstall avast or any other anti virus program you have and reinstall avast again.(If it request you to restart than you restart your computer.)

Welcome

1. avast! Pro does not have a firewall
2. Download avast! Pro  English (40.46 MB): http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-professional.html
3. See: http://www.avast.com/eng/avast-uninstall-utility.html  You may have to run this in Safe Mode.

The feature comparison is the same in avast V5

Why won't it download, avast (working or otherwise) doesn't mess with downloads, what errors are you getting ?

How are you downloading the aswclear.exe file ?

- Right click on this link http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear.exe and select Save as or Save File as (depending on your browser) and save it to your HDD, somewhere you can find it again... You should run this uninstall utility from safe mode also.

Are you sure you were in safe mode as avast doesn't run in safe mode so you shouldn't be getting a setiface error, well I wouldn't have though so) ?

- Booting into safe mode http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml
