Windows 2008 as preplacement Vista
« on: July 07, 2008, 05:15:26 PM »
Hi there

I read an interesting article which tells that Windows 2008 is 25% faster than Vista.
Since we can download Windows 2008 and try it up to 240 days I wanted to test it.

But without a Antivirus this should be to dangerous and I want to compare in the same conditions.

But when I try to install Avast Home I get a message that NT4 SPx is missing.

Can somebody give me a workaround?  ???

Thanks in advance

Best regards

Tra

This is a Server OS and avast 4 Home/Pro won't work on a server, it requires the Server version of avast (even if that would work with an early release of windows 2008)

avast probably won't work with it in its current form, when Vista was in beta (and this build you are talking about isn't even there yet I don't think). A lot of work had to be done to avast so it was compatible with Vista and this didn't fully stabilise until the Vista RC version releases.

So if you aren't posting on the incorrect forum (not avast 4 server version), then avast 4 home/pro won't work on a server OS platform.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.4.6112 (build 24.4.9067.762) UI 1.0.803/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

I think you won't found a workaround... avast for PC does not run in a server environment.
