I thought your screenshot might be a Windows update history page view available through Windows 7
It was .
There aren't any hidden or extra features in Win 7 that pertain to MSE.
Remember that MSE is still in beta and therefore still subject to changes before the final release.

I've become comfortable with XP / MSE now I have found my way around the behind the scenes stuff. I thought there could have been more available on the MSE interface in the way of logs, reports, etc...but thats just me. I am pleasantly surprised by the new development in Microsoft. Still only running it on one computer.

I'm unfamiliar with Windows 7 but have been fielding a few enquiries lately. No one running the 7 beta round here, so I guess I'm going to have to be the early adopter if I find the time.

I quite like the idea of having the option of a resident antimalware, if that is what MSE is going to be. And then I have mbam on the bench for when I want to use it, plus a few other tools. I cannot help but feel Windows 7 with MSE will become something of a standard from 2010. I would be running avast as resident antivirus with that combo, of course. Though still a bit of time to play out.

Seems that C:\Program Files\Microsoft Security Essentials\msseces.exe could be easily killed.
Does this mean the protection is gone or only the icon on system tray?

avast works in well with Windows. One of its chief assets.

Only the system tray icon. If you check the task manager, you'll see that the process is still running.

Nice video Kenny. It should answer the question asked to start this thread. :)

I apologize for reopening this thread, but I have two question.

Given the recent release of Avast 5, have any of you (ie senior forum members) kept using MSE with active/real time protection running alongside Avast(with active protection)?

Is it worth it?

Thank you in advance for the replies.

I and most of the people who's computers I work on are on MSE only.I've been watching the forums, and Avast 5 will have to settle down a good bit before I can recommend it to my users as most know very little about computers.
