One of my friend me to test his Pen drive. (Earlier I used to feel that, my system is safe as i am using AVAST). When test pendrive with Avast  and Malware bytes, no virus found. When I tested a suspected file <<http://rapidshare.com/files/245260366/patch_5.1_IDM.exe>>  in http://virusscan.jotti.org I got the below result. I know its a patch. And I feel that all patches will have some virus/Malware/Trojan attached to it.

But I am confused all major virus guards found nothing :(. Is this a Virus or not...please clarify

Best to run avast antivirus as the sole resident antivirus
--if you run two or more antivirus as resident, there will be conflicts in the running
--run with firewalls and only spyware that run compatible with avast
          http://malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
          http://www.superantispyware.com/

Use other malware detectors and fixers like spyware as with on demand
--run them as and when you think they are needed

Avast7 Free, MBAM (on demand), MVPS Hosts

Intel DG41TY, Windows 7 Ultimate, IE9, Google Chrome, 4 GB ram, Secunia PSI, ccleaner, Foxit Reader, Faststone Image viewer, MWSnap.

Hi Mkis,

I am using AVAST as sole resident antivirus. I use Malwarebytes only for demand scan(i.e., when ever I feel needs a scan of file or drive, I use it).

No other virus gaurds running on my mechine. I use Windows inbuild firewall.

But here my question is to biliv AVASt or not, as its not showing virus on a crack file :(.

No antivirus is 100%. You seem to have covered most on the necessary ground anyway.

I dont actual get crack files on my computer so I cant say one way or the other.
I would think use what is most accessible quarantine and secure that is available to your computer.

Avast! is really a great anti virus and yes each anti virus you will use no 1 can guarantee that they detect all virus. If you know how many virus is created a day then you will know why there no 1 that can detect all virus. So for the player that is not sure they can get a anti spyware, anti malware or both with a firewall and some bonus of them like (site advisor, host protect......) But basicly i would say Anti Virus,Anti Spyware,Firewall. But yes for some smaller files you can scan them at a virus scanner. But its 100 % sure you will get a virus if u download keygen and hack. Because for them its the best solution to find some guy that want to pay nothing so they will make their program with some virus on it and sell it or publish it on the internet. But in this time Avast! is trying to find it but for sure if you wanna help them at the detection rate which is really great from you. So yes its allowed and feel free to do it. In return they publish a free version of their product. So yeah its like a present from them. So friendly i would past a small help to them if i would find a random infected file when surfing.

But i dont think its loaded if u dont have clicked on the .exe (if im not wrong).

Thank you and sorry for my speach its was needed to let you know that no 1 anti virus can detect all virus and that Avast! is still also a part of the greatest one anti virus to find malware by seeing the test of some compagny (AV-Comparative + Malware Tests).

 :)  Hi :

Pen Drive(s) are best "tested" by using the FREE "Flash Disinfector" program ; see the Info at
 http://experi3nc3.wordpress.com/2007/05/10/flash-disinfector-by-subs/ .

That solution is a prevention. Any USB drive, even not from you, will give an alert if infected.

USB drives have become commonplace, especially amongst younger people who persist in share networks outside of trusted proxy, and are attracted to sites where video and audio codecs are vulnerable. So we have development of USB-targeted technology to combat the risks involved.

Hi,
Thnx for explanation and informative reply. But unfortunately I could not understand half of the reply :(as my english is poor.
Yes I too know that no anti virus is 100% safe, But what I expect is they should find minimum or simple viruses. atleast on the first day of virus release they didnt find its ok...i am not expecting it...but even after many days after virus release the virus gaurds should detect...here in above case all major virus gaurds failed to detect virus...
Yes I want to report it to Avast. I didnt find any link to do so :(. Here also I didnt get any responce from them whether its a virus or not :(.

few of frns suggested usb cheking steps...thanx for the links...but i doubt they will detect this or not :(.

Ok sorry if you cant understand at all.

Anyway i can say Avast! is detecting 99,2 % of the virus and like i can say all should got a on demand scanner like me its a anti spyware. For sure yes you do need a Firewall. Like Microsoft said you need at least AntiVirus-AntiSpyware-Firewall. So if you got all of this then you are safe and if you want to add something like (Site Advisor, etc etc) well its up to you.

My self i have surfing on a lot web and yes Avast! did find some Java Script Malicious Code (JS:Redirector) and i just did move to the chest, delete or close the connection and i cleared my internet temp and scanned for be sure and nothing was found so why to have worry when Avast! did detect it. If the virus is not out then Avast! will appear again to tell you what to do.

I have used for about 3 years i think this anti virus Avast! and never having problem like (reformatting, cpu slow down) or something that can conflict.

So i hope you have understand what i said and i hope i convainced you to dont have to worry. Because ALWIL is here to save the world.

If you got any question or problem feel free to tell us. ALWIL or Forum User will can help you.

Like i said we are all a family. So that why we help each other that respect us.

-= Avast does not consider detecting illegitimate/pirated softwares [e.g. cracks, keygens, serials].. It wont send an alert unless the file is really infected..
