I like your enthusiasm, but I cannot use the term "love" here. All I want, need, expect in an AV is, the best protection, frequent updates, and to not slow my system down or not be bloatware. So far I am satisfied using Avast. I admit, I used Avira free for a couple of years, but in the last few months Avira free has had persistent updating problems. I finally got completely fed up with Avira and switched to Avast  and am finding I like Avast  better anyway. I think Avast 5 will be a sure winner when completed. Oh, I turn the sounds off, but again, I appreciate your enthusiasm...

Boot time scan, I think the only other product to do that is F-Secure.

So nice to deal with rootkits!

Well, Personally, I like the "nuclear" symbol and the warning alarm when something fishy is detected.

Wait a minute, that sounded wrong. I should say I DO NOT like it when that happens, but I like the warning graphic and sound Avast gives you. Scared one of my children bad enough that they didn't tell me it had happened once though.......I found out in the next full scan. :-\ They're not allowed on the PC anymore.....

I think that is a bit extreme, no?

It is all about education, if you teach them about it, and tell them what to to, then this situation will be avoided. Isn't that the point of making mistakes? So you can learn for the future...

Wow I like that line^^

@Topic
The thing the attracts me the most with avast does not lie in the GUI or in anything else, its about the customer support and the technical support here in the forums.

The sounds, GUIs, name, detection, features are somewhat like extra bonuses to me^^

I like the way that avast scan by about 2.0mbs or more ^^It gives an advantage in scanning lots of light files then it will use less time.
Maybe the alert is a bit not good everytime my dad hear this he says:"Seem that the computer will soon be formatted again!"
The skins are just excellent I like the vista look^^
The boot scan I didn't use it much because I prefer to see avast with skin scanning.
Avast has already gave us 7 shields instead of only one or two I can say that I am very thankful to avast
Plus it is very light and we can surf the net fast and safe.

use guest account or rather limited user account as 97% of malware has no effect if you don't have administrator rights. and hence less or no alerts.

Help improve avast!, you can send those files to virus@avast.com. The ideal way to send such files is to compress them in a password protected ZIP. Please, mention in the body of the message why you think it is a false positive and the password used. Thank you.

the fp's are only from few days due to the change in detection technique. the result will be that the detection rate will be high but at the cost of time. so as time goes by, there will be improvement in detection and also less fp's

My "favorites" are both functional rather than relating to sounds and/or appearance.  The excellent resident protection for so many kinds of communication and data processing, and the equally excellent help available here on the forums.

I don't use sound at all on my system, except for media files and a few games where sound is fairly critical (being able to hear trouble coming before it appears on-screen, for instance).
