avast! Free Antivirus 5 never auto-updates
« on: February 15, 2010, 11:04:11 AM »
When avast! Free Antivirus 5.0 is initially installed, it is set to automatically update my virus database, as well as notify me when a program update is available.  Yet, even with these settings in place, avast! never does automatically update the virus database!  I have to access the user interface and run a manual update every time!  Can someone tell me what the deal is here?

Try to enable "Always online" (or something like that, don't know the exact words) in the update settings.
That should do.

Hi Brandon,

Welcome to the forum,

As additional information as like Zyndstoff has mentioned to you,

May we know what is you avast version that you using till present?

Have you update your engine?

Have you try to download VPS update from : http://www.avast.com/download-update

You may try to update it manually first.

Cheers,
