I am currently using Avast 4.8 free version and was looking at the differences between the free version VS the Pro and Internet Security version.

I noticed that the free version will protect continuously against viruses and spy-ware and will protect against root-kits in real time, it will also protect e-mails, however there is no indication that it protects against other vital threats like Trojans, worms and key-loggers. Perhaps I missed it somewhere? ???

Can anyone tell me if the free version will protect against these things?

Thanks

Hello Duncan9999

avast! free not only protects you from virus, spywares and rootkits.
indeed avast (Free/Pro/Suite) more than an antivirus is an antimalware it means that detects and remove trojans, worms, keyloggers, dialers Etc.

You can see the malware that avast detects here:

Thanks for the responses.

scythe944, I have used the comparison chart, but unfortunately it does not appear to clearly state everything it protects against.

Light Archangel, the update history, shows that Avast does protect against the Trojans, worms, and keyloggers I was concerned about. I was unaware that it covered dialers too. That is fantastic.  :)
