Cant send or download images after installing Avast

My friend has just installed Avast, and cant download or upload images via email. The error is that the server keeps timing out after 60 secs.

Is that an avast problem?

putty, follow bob`s advice. Maybe you have to adjust the timeouts  ;)

Do you have a firewall? Which is your email program and your OS?

If you experiencing that problem trying to send small, normal phisical size pictures, that server time out set to 60 seconds shouldn't be problem at all. I'm telling this 'cause I had same problem before when I was trying to send normal 50 kb size picture file... it never happened before. What I did to help myself is...

Go into INTERNET MAIL PROVIDER in avast! ON-ACCESS SCANNER, HEURISTICS and set SENSITIVITY to MEDIUM... that helped me with same problem months and months ago...
