Avast starting disabled

Each time I re-boot windows xp pro corp. Avast starts disabled. I have un-installed and re-installed Avast to no avail. It seems like something is taking control of Avast before it loads. Any scans done after turning it back on shows no problems. The same thing has happened to Windows defender and Microsoft Security essentials.

are you running avast and Microsoft Security essentials at the same time ?   only run one antivirus

I think he's got something preventing anyway any AV from starting normally...like a trojan...

Check your computer for Malware with

Malwarebytes Antimalware http://filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
after install click UPDATE and run quick scan, click on REMOVE SELECTED to quarantine anything found

He may be having the XP specific problem with startups. Maybe checking the option to delay Avast loadup would help. I sometimes get the Avast! icon in the tray with either a red X or yellow ! on it for a few seconds until all the shields are finished loading. His case may be more severe depending on what else is loading at startup. There is a small freeware program called Startup Delayer that can fix some of these problems if the option within Avast! doesn't help. I had to use it with the latest version of Comodo to get the icon to even appear in the tray.
