TCP/IP error
« on: July 02, 2003, 01:41:10 AM »
Not sure if this is to do with avast 4. I can't check my email. When I try I get this error:
"A TCP/IP error occurred while trying to connect to the server. Account: 'xxxx.xxxxxxxxx.net', Server: '127.0.0.1', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC15"
Would appreciate any input.

Win98SE, all updates, Asus P2B Mb., Pentium III 450 MHz, 256MB ram, NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440-64MB

Rick,

How long have you been using Avast?
If you recently installed it, you need to run the Wizard again to check the settings for you email.
The server 127.0.0.1 is the setting that Avast uses to check email.  If you did not set up your Pop3 info correctly, you would get an error similar to the one you describe.
Also, if you are operating through a proxy, that information must be added when running the Wizard.

Good luck :)

Well, after ??? hours of pulling my hair out, I figured out that it was a setting in Outpost Firewall that somehow got changed. Duh...
Everything up and running again.
Thanks anyway.
