No.
You can combine Comodo Firewall (and Defense+) with avast antivirus free/pro.

So if you combined comodo firewall and avast! free/pro, is the outcome would be as if you are only using Avast IS? or its better to use comodo firewall + Avast! free or Avast IS alone? thanks again!

I read this topic and I wanted to leave my opinion :)
From my personal experience, Comodo Firewall + Avast 5 free gives an excellent level of protection. (It has saved me quite a lot of times from getting infected with USB worms)
By the way, I have never tried AIS (since I don't have either the money or a nearby reseller).

Cosmeglenn, due to Comodo sandbox and HIPS (Defense+), I think avast antivirus + Comodo Firewall + Defense+ assure you better protection than AIS.
Yeah, the combo of free is better than the paid imho.

@Tech
I don't doubt that you're right, but having tried avast free antivirus + Comodo Firewall + Defense+, AIS is easier.

AIS is easier.
Generally, any suite is "easier" than a combo.
But, is it safer?

Yeah, you can run MBAM on demand with AIS. Good combo for detection (have my doubts on protection).

So you prefere Avast Free with Comodo with Defense+ is better than Avast Internet security?

I've used the combo: Avast 5 Free and Comodo Firewall 5. It is NOT better than AIS.
_Yes, Comodo Firewall will pass all leak test's you throw at it but, honestly, I don't trust it. The firewall doesn't have as strong inbound protection as Avast in my opinion, and, excuse me but, preventing things from infecting your system is FAR BETTER than preventing them to "leak" afterwards.

just go (or stick to) for AIS...after all you're on Avast forums, and we're not here to advertise the competition. Try AIS (trial version) if you don't have a license yet, and if you're not satisfied with it, post your issues, and if in the end these issues can' be solved, if any, try something else, Comodo being just one alternative.

MBAM (free) on demand improves detection.
To improve protection you need MBAM (paid) or CIS (free).

What About MBAM + comodo firewall + avast! free ?
Very good.
