Send the sample to virus (at) avast (dot) com zipped and password protected with the password in email body, a link to this topic might help and undetected malware in the subject.

Or send the sample/s to avast as a Undetected Malware:
Open the avast chest and right click in the Chest and select Add, navigate to where you have the sample and add it to the chest (see image). Once in the chest, right click on the file and select 'Submit to virus lab...' complete the form and submit, the file will be uploaded during the next update.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

I think that is a good procedure. Why not standardize it and include it in the webiste info so when you visit http://www.avast.com/contacts#mail it's included already.

I don't know why they haven't, perhaps because technically you aren't actually contacting them as the emails are filtered and you normally don't get a response unless they need more information.

Submitting through email is best and "needed" as it is a counter check for file submission IMHO.

Yes there is a way of submitting files via the GUI (as all AV are equipped with it..hopefully..lol..)but in my experience with other premium AV's the email is more faster/accurate because you can also send them results info from VirusTotal/jotti's/Filterbit as support for the samples you send.

"...you normally don't get a response unless they need more information."
--I think they should respond promptly to such emails because it is a direct contact of a user for possible non-detection / false positive. Some AV's have an email for false-positives separate from 'malware' and separate from 'virus'. I think they should really standardize DavidR's procedure. It's like the one with avast's competitor. And response is usually a day or three always(well on my experience..)

How does avast respond when you send samples via the GUI? (new user here.)

Do they respond thru email also? If so can we see a sample of avast's response here....? (Don't know if the mods will allow it though...but for transparency, why not huh:-)...)

Does anyone have experience with submitting samples from the GUI and have not gotten a response?

With the email?

Hmmmm.....

Thanks!

How does avast respond when you send samples via the GUI?

With a generic detection in the next virus database update(trojan-gen, spyware-gen, malware-gen, etc).

In general, any undetected malware submitted through the GUI, VT or other scanner is then updated and pushed out in the next virus definition update(s).
