I did a scan on my system and the program found the following while scanning my virtural box .vdi file:
2010-11-27 19:34:16 Found virus 'Win32:Hupigon-ONX [Trj]' in file '/home/billy/.VirtualBox/Machines/Win XP Professional/Snapshots/{d812c7aa-14d5-43ce-820f-ecb5dcd2c229}.vdi'.
I choose send to virus chest expecting that if I could restore the file after the scan finished.
As the file was being moved to the virus chest the program crashed and Avast! force closed on me.
After I started the program again I was asked for my registration information again.
The program started up and I got a message that a stale lock was active and had to be deleted.
2010-11-27 19:41:36 Deleted stale lock file '/home/billy/.avast/lockfile-billy'.
I deleted it because it was the only option I was presented with.
When I went to the Chest to restore the file, it was not there.
When I check the .avast folder in my home space, I see a file named 00000 that is about 50 gigs (approx the size of the virtual machine file.)
I found these 2 posts that I think are the same problem.
http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=64557.0http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=38080.0The 2nd one describes a fix, but I really do not understand what they was talking about.
Anyone know how to restore the file?
My system is the latest Ubuntu (Maverick Meerkat).
I will not run another scan so the old log information system info is not over written.
