I updated Avast to 5.1.889 and the update causes some kind of problem or conflict with PowerDVD, making it unusable.
When starting up PowerDVD I get a message saying CLHelper.exe has crashed. CLHelper.exe is some kind of loader or something that runs whenever you start PowerDVD and is a vital part of the application. After bypassing the message PowerDVD does start and looks OK at first glance, but it's missing important features, and basically nothing works properly.
I've tried PowerDVD versions 7 Ultra and 10 Ultra, and it's the same problem on both.
I've also uninstalled and reinstalled the latest Avast update and confirmed that Avast is the cause. Disabling the shields doesn't help either, as long as 5.1.889 is installed, CLHelper.exe will always crash.
I am using the Free edition of Avast on Windows XP SP3 32-bit.
Hope you can look into this, as I now have to choose between being able to play Blu-rays or having virus protection.
Thank you.
