Yep, genuine Windows XP SP3... Why don't you try removing tick off and apply? Microsoft made it possible... N that is what I did yesterday N now no IE hereafter.

Wrong, all that does is remove the browser element. IE is deeply embedded into the OS, which is why you have to keep it up to date.
IE is used to display lots of things in the OS, windows explorer, folder views use it, help files us it and there are a whole slew of other things that use it.
