I have the same issue , sort of, with Win 7 64 bit. I only see Script Shield activity in IE9. There is none in Chrome or in Windows Media Player or anything else as far as I can tell. The Script Shield was supposed to be enhanced but so far it seems that it has been restricted instead.

And what about Firefox? Does the script shield work with Firefox in your system?

I can't say since I don't and won't use Firefox. I was just confirming that the Shield seems to be only working in IE.

Avast! Free 6.0.1289 (Behaviour Shied removed)

Without behaviour shield, script shield dont work. I test it.
If u want script shield back u must reinstall behaviour shield.(script shield does not work also when u have behaviour shield disabled)

Out of interest I tested it. (Usually SS is disabled here.)
The Script Shield doesn't work with FF 3.6.22.

May I inquire why you don't like FireFox 6.0?

Yes, this is true. There is currently a dependency between Script and Behavior Shields. If you don't have the Behav Shield installed, the Script shield will not load.

This is because the new Script Shield reuses some of the frameworks established by the Behav Shield.

BS is installed, SS still not running...

@Boombastik and Asyn, thank you very, very much. Your help was very useful.

I was going mad trying to track down the origin of my issue. I did a clean install on both my machines - and it's a real pain if you have custom settings... I also removed Online Armor just to check if it was part of the problem!

@Vlk, now I'm wondering why there isn't any note on the documentation or in the changelog about the dependency between Script and Behaviour Shields?
I've been using Avast! since v.3.x and this lack of documentation is really, really annoying for users like me who try to understand what causes their issues (and then report them to dev).

Thanks to all the users who replied to this thread and sorry for my English,
T.

@Tetsuo,

I might be wrong, but I have the feeling that you missed one of Asyn's reports.

You probably saw that with BS off -> SS doesn't work, and that is probably the kind of explanation you were looking for.

But maybe you missed that Asyn reported that both BS and SS are "on" but SS doesn't work with FF 3.6.22 eitherway.

Or maybe that version of FF is not of any interest for you?

In any case, you might want to retest both shields "on" with your version of FF and report back that indeed it works as it is supposed to. The conclusion/report might be of interest for other users too.

My apologies if my interpretation was completely off here.

1. I guess he did. ;)
2. Yep, he's using 6.0.2, anyway others still on the FF 3.6 branch might be interested.

@ady4um and Asyn,

I was interested in the dependency between Script and Behaviour Shields and Asyn tested it - this is the main reason why I said "thank you"  :)

However, you are right, ady4um. I missed that Asyn was talking about FF 3.6.22 (which I don't use) probably because this thread and my OP were for v.6 (which I use).

As stated  before, I usually don't install the Behaviour Shield ( because I use a HIPS software) so at the moment I cannot turn it on to test the Script Shield with FF6 - but a lot of users confirmed that Script Shield works flawlessly with FF6.

Regards,
T
