Avast hangs when scanning MS Streets & Trips

I installed Avast about a week ago, since then I have not been able to complete a full scan of my computer.  I have tried running it at night, I have tried a thorough scan as well as a standard scan and it always hangs when it gets to MS Street & Trips\Data.  It just sits there and won't go any further.  

Anyone else getting this?  

I have Win XP pro
Avast v. 4.5.546
256mb ram
PIII
and 1/2 of my 30gb hard drive is still empty.  

Let me know what other statistics you need from me.

What is the exact location of the file?

Can you scan it manualy (right click the file and select scan)

Reinstall Streets & Trips. It solved it for someone else.

The location of the file is c:|Program Files\Microsoft Streets & Trips\Data and no, it hangs when I scan that folder manually, too.

Could you please try to locate the problematic file (i mean the real file, inside the "Data" folder)? For example, turn on the creation of the (text) report file, including the "OK files", and scan the Streets & Trips Data folder. The "bad" file should be at the end of the report (or maybe "after" the end of the report - but you should be able to guess the real one).

Btw, does it make any difference if you turn off the archive scanning?

Ok, I've done that but when the program hangs does it create a log when I stop it?  I mean if I just let it go it'll hang forever so if I stop the scan where it is hanging at, will it create a log?  And where do I view it at?

The report is created during the scanning - as soon as a single file is scanned, it's written to the report file. So, if not the last one (the one that caused the lockup), the one before should be there.

The location of the report file is shown on the Settings page where you turned it on; by default, it's
C:\Program Files\ALWIL Software\avast4\Data\Report\simple user interface.txt
(I think).

And where do I go to view the log?  I'm in log viewer now and do not see a scan log.

No, the Log Viewer is for something else.
The report file is a simple text file - you can open it e.g. in Notepad.

This is where my settings say the report should be but there isn't a report there that lists the individual files only a general recap of the scan.

No I didn't, but I have since and I ran the scan again and here is my new log...

So the file immediately after msmbase.htm is the culprit?  Here is a list of the files in the data folder up to the last one that is listed as ok and including the file immediately after that one...

Is that enough info or should I list them all?

On WinNT platform, the files are usually returned (= scanned) in alphabetical order; so if there aren't any more files in between (than the ones you listed), I'd suspect the file USA_ATT.psi.
Can you try to copy the file to some other (empty) folder and scan it? This way you'll see if it's really the cause. And if it's not, try some more file "around", please.

How big is the USA_ATT.psi file?

It's only 5kb. I will try moving it.
