Almost the entire weekend the board was slow again :-\
If this continues it really becomes unworkable.
The creation of the pages (with a few exceptions) was mostly fine.
Although it varied between 0.1 and 15 seconds.
But waiting as much as up to 6 minutes for a page to load is really too much. :'(

Yes, this is unbelievable. It's so slow that it's not possible to work any more. I'm killing myself trying to open some threads and to reply. Many will just give up I'm affraid...

I gave up last nite.  I was trying to reply to one of your posts actually,  and gave up and replied to it this morning instead.  Its STILL horridly slow

WoW I've been lurking this forum for quite some time, strange this topic got me to join :o

I'm on dialup and avast!web has always been the fastest forum I visit, even today and it has never been slow to me.

I come here at least ten times a day, I promote AVAST @ a good tech site so I need to keep up with the latest on AVAST.

What's your location ? We've had so many problems in the past as well. People from USA, Canada, Netherland, Germany... all over the world. You are on dial-up and you think it's loading fast ? Of course, because on dial-up nothing is fast, so this may seem like fast for dial-up users. We had such a speed before, and now it's natural that we notice the difference... and believe me, it's huge...

I'm in Michigan USA, guess I should of knocked on wood after my post..hahaha I couldn't get back here again.

Hmmm now I know what everyone is talking about  ???

BTW normally this site loads in seconds on my dialup, not a bunch of huge sigs running here like other places  ;)

I don't think anyone changed anything yet Bob... it's like that all the time. Sometimes it's fast and smooth, and all of a sudden, boom... nothing works as it should work. Could it be that all those animated avatars and our signatures are choking the server ? I mean, some of them are 100 and something kb in physical size. I know that avatars are not hosted on this server, but still forum needs a significant time to recall them from other places where all those avatars are located...

Sasha I've tried loading without Avatars and signatures and that didn't make any difference last night.

Now (03.15H GMT) it is working like it should. But as it has been going on for the last few weeks, it wouldn't surprise me at all if the board will get slow again within a few hours from now.

Things like this can happen, but what really surprises me (and disapoints me!) is that sofar none of the Alwil crew has responded. *gggrrrrr*

Bob, for the last few months it has always been TOO slow in the weekends and at the times I mentioned before. This is NOT normal. The problem is with the server this board is on. For some very odd reason that server is not capable of handling the requests, although there are only 5 or 6 people using the board. Even mu board (while I only have 14Kbs upstream for it) is always much faster, while Alwil has (if I'm correct) somewhere around 3Gbs upstream. Slowly but surely I get the impression that Alwil is getting 'ripped off'.

OK, besides today's slowdowns now and then, I also got the following message twice within a few minutes:
Connection Problems
Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later.
