Only one minor quibble, Dch48:  Unlike the distribution3 page, that page does require Flash to be active in order to check version (in current browser) and update, plus it requires separate visits in respective browsers to update both Active-X and plugin versions.  For my money, that actually increases the number of places I need Flash online, which is contrary to my intended purpose.

Unfortunately there are still too many sites that insist on Flash even if you're fully HTML5-compatible.

I've stopped using Flash a long time ago. As long as this is one of the main venues of infecting computers,
I don't need it on my system. There aren't any videos that I've ever come across that are so important that I need to put m,y system at risk.
I really don't know of any video that I haven't been able to see because I no longer have flash on my system.

I have no issues with using Flash, or Java for that matter. Both are active on my desktop and laptop. I have even enabled Flash on my Android tablet by using the Dolphin Browser instead of Chrome. If any site needs to use flash, it is welcome to do so. I've never seen any problems caused by either flash or java on any computer I have ever owned or used. As I have said many times before, I am much more concerned with being able to use all the capabilities and features of the internet experience than I am with hiding behind barriers that I have never seen the need for. I also allow ads on my favorite sites to increase their revenue.

Fair enough ... I'd never run into malware problems either, but of course there's the current "panic" about Flash (probably a good chunk of which is media hype).  I'll probably just carry on the way I've been doing, leave Flash set to ask permission in Firefox and use the "allow and remember" option for trusted sites.  Since Adobe's been doing regular monthly security updates for a while now, keeping those up to date is probably good enough, especially with avast + MBAM Prem. + NoScript.
