Perhaps it is some form of server load thing where it isn't available to everyone at once.

Mine is now recognising an update, but when I posted I had also previously checked the download site and it was also showing 1.5.0.5 and the only site I found at that time was the beta 1.5.0.6 at the filehippo site. But I'm now on 1.5.0.6 awaiting firefox 2.0 gold

There is Update 8.0. Sun Java has not update their download pages:
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp <-- this one has 5.0 Update 7
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp <-- this one still offer the 5.0 Update 6

So it's obvious the Sun is slow in updating their pages.

Sorry for any confusions. They is update 8.0. They haven't update their site yet.
