I have done some research at Wot and found out what is going on.I visited this site on 29/11/08 and left this comment. On the bottom of the page on dcom bobulator there is a link, does your windows vista need a tune up,start by clicking here.I clicked the header for vista tune up instead of de combobulator and it led to a triple red circle wot curtain.Because it does not say sponsered link some people may think this the vendors link.So I give a orange for caution........Because I gave a orange caution and my settings are set to trigger on orange it warned me.Anyway it goes to show that Wot works. It needs a lot of folks votes to alter a rating. ;).

It's probably the banner ad. Don't click on them.

I have also leaned the hard way that most google sponsered links are bad news. ::).I have also removed my rating on this one,but I had given it three green circles.I was probably annoyed that the banner took me to were I did not want to go and gave it one orange.

I think if anything that makes a-squared less of an option as an anti-spyware, unless it can be installed without and anti-virus element.

it's just a scanner....not realtime like avast and such
but a-squared is known for false positives in the past

Some of these so called 'just a scanner' have a service running so you can do a right click context menu scan, and you never really know what is running under the surface.

As you say the a-squared anti-spyware was never anything to write home about and I doubt the inclusion of Ikarus AV will do much to change that ;D

I'm not sure if it is must be done. Once ST 2.5 appeared, I installed it and it crashed my Vista. I reinstalled the OS, reinstalled ST 2.5, and it crashed Vista again - it simply blocked some vital startup processes. I came back to version 2.3 and since that time I have no problems.
May the FOSS be with you!

Is there any useful information into Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Events, specially 'Errors'?

Vista was freezing for 2-3 minutes at start-up and then continued telling me that it couldn't connect to Events Log; Avast didn't start and Vista informed me that I have no antivirus protection at all on my PC; Vista Sidebar widgets didn't start either; Java Runtime Environment (JRE) became unavailable and I couldn't use any macroses and some extensions in OpenOffice.org; Vista couldn't see my built-in modem and I lost Internet connection; and so on, and so on. My OS looked like an old man dying in a hospice.
May the FOSS be with you!
