never said there was a rule there, I know aren't any about that. That's just my opinion, and I think I'm right.

Firefox 3.6
<snip>

hum... probably on the way, I get no update offer from FF interface and the Firefox web page still shows 3.57 ... but I see it confirmed in the news, 3.6 is out today  ;) and yeah, final is on the FTP server <snip>

Normally it takes a little while from release until it filters down to being seen as an option in the browser.

Given that in your later post 550 Permission denied, either their servers are swamped and direct download has been pulled or they may have something bug, etc. which they want to correct and then release.

I know one thing I won't be in a rush to update as I would like to give the add-ons a chance to catch up to the release.

yeah, that's always the parameter that bothers me the most with a FF upgrade...there are ways to force compatibility but I wouldn't apply that to any extension.

just to mention it's not yet offered as an update in FF interface, but it's available for download on the official page now:

Yes, I'm aware of those options and I tend not to use them in case it introduces instability, etc. I have a couple of very old add-ons that are no longer developed that I have had to open the .xpi file and edit the contents of the .rdf file.

OK I just upgraded and found customizegoogle wasn't compatible. I forced compatibility and it's OK  ;)

ps: I didn't edit the rdf inside the xpi like I did for another add-on a while ago, customizegoogle will probably be updated soon, so that's just temporary (disabling the check).

It would be nice if there was a means of testing the current add-ons for compatibility with FF 3.6 before committing to the update.

You could always disable the compatibility checking.

As I said in my earlier post I don't like doing that in case it introduces instability, I would rather wait were that is possible.
