Looked up bugzilla, seems no reason why they disabled WebRep. This is bad practice.

You need the last avast beta for compatibility. By the way, the beta of avast is very very stable.

There is absolutely no way I would switch browser just the get the webrep working, it isn't a security element and will eventually work on the next avast program update. If you can't wait for that do as Tech suggests use the latest pre-release version of avast, http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=80315.0, were the latest webrep works and also resolves the igoogle issue.
