They are already working on that, in fact an update release in relation to this caused some BSOD issue, which has now been resolved.

Is anybody using Windows 8.1 and the latest avast! beta together?
If so, I'll go for Windows 8.1. Otherwise, I'll wait for this compatibility.
Thanks for any support.

Just tried the latest Avast beta (and stable version, however the stable version refuses to even install) for Windows 8.1.... Completely crashes windows, makes it unstable, and un-usable after the "install reboot", luckily I had made a restore point and was able to restore windows via safe mode.
Hopefully the Avast team can push an update for Windows 8.1 soon, as windows defender is mediocre protection.. at best.

The 8.1 preview is very buggy with new features like the right click menu of the new Start button that stop working for no reason and simple things like pinning apps to the Start screen not working.  Avast should wait until the bugs get ironed out unless they want to play an ongoing process of catch up.

Hmm, I'm not; as I'm using Internet Security, so from what it looks like the stand-a-lone antivirus works with windows 8.1, but internet security does not. I cant confirm the first point as I don't feel like going through another system restore, but I'll take your word. However I will wait for internet security to work instead of using just the anti-virus suite. :)

There is no stand alone AV - The question was did you run the beta with Windows 8.1 or where you using the last stable release of avast! ???

By stand-a-lone I mean just the antivirus version in compartment to the internet security version. As for which, I tried both the beta installed but rendered my pc useless (as stated in my first post), where-as the stable version got the "windows compatibility issue" error on the install (with no troubleshoot option..).
