Title: *** Introducing: beta version of upcoming avast update (now 4.7.1096)
Post by: Vlk on November 10, 2007, 04:11:40 PM
The beta is now over. The update has been officially released as 4.7.1098. Thanks to everyone who helped testing.

Hi *,

again, it's my pleasure to announce a pre-release version of the upcoming update of avast! Home/Professional, build number 4.7.1083. Edit 11/26: now 4.7.1091; hopefully the last one before release

How to install it (for starters - most people already know this trick anyway ): simply download and run the following program: link removed. That's about all it takes (provided you have the latest version of avast Home/Pro already installed, of course).

There is a number of fixes in this release. It is also recommended to all users experiencing some problems with the latest official release (4.7.1074) - which does indeed contain a couple of problems, especially if running under Vista.

Any comments on this release are very welcome and appreciated!

Thanks
Vlk

Thanks, just downloaded it, didn't take as long (dial-up) as I remember with past betas.

A cosmetic one, I just noticed the about avast shows a build date of SEPT2007, this was the same for the 4.7.1074 info on about avast. This was the subject of a topic on the forums shortly after some downloaded 1074.

Yeah, this has usually been the case with all the betas. It will be fixed before the version is officially released (an exception to this was v4.7.1074 which, as I already said, was, ehm, sort of an inadvertence)

Cheers

Hi,

I installed the new beta version 4.7.1083 on Vista Business, and when Avast requested to reboot, the PC freeze dead just before booting. It happen twice so far. I wonder what causes that. I had to use the reset button to restart the PC after an avast update.

Ok, this one isn't directly related to new avast! build but i am hoping for this small fix to be included in it already.
I was installing avast! Home slovenian (SLO) version to my friends laptop and found this one...

The thing is that our belowed slovenian translators did something strange...
Two different translated things for the same function, probably confusing user on what to do with found virus.

After some checking of all words, they seem to use "Virusni Zabojnik" instead "skrinja" in Simple interface GUI too.
So i think it would be best to rename text on button from "Premakni v skrinjo" to "Premakni v Virusni Zabojnik"

Any chance to fix this issue in this build (it's not that hard ;) )? I don't want my friend to be confused when she encounters some malware...

EDIT:
Oh, one more thing. Please add "View Chest content..." option into "a" ball right-click context menu. It's so damn annyoing to constantly run simple interface just to open it or make shortcuts on desktop (which makes usage of Silent Mode very inpractical). It's just annoying and i don't think adding one extra option is so hard not to be included for so long (i was nagging about it very long ago). I'm sure it wouldn't take pro coder like guys in ALWIL more than 15 minutes (including break time lol).

I have Windows Vista Ultimate x64 (Finnish) installed and since 28.10.2007 auto update (virus definitions etc) haven't worked even in this new 4.7.1083 Beta version.

Even update (virus definitions etc) from taskicon menu doesn't work. Only update from add or remove programs works (virus definitions etc).

SetIFace.dll error could be related to a non-good installation of avast.
Can you try to repair your installation?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).
If this does not help, can you uninstall / boot / install / boot again?

Do you use any other antivirus in your computer? In the past?

So i think it would be best to rename text on button from "Premakni v skrinjo" to "Premakni v Virusni Zabojnik"

You are right that it should be consistent. I'm not very happy to substitute a longer expression for a shorter one (the whole dialog has to be resized to that the long button fits in there), but "Virusni Zabojnik" is used almost everywhere, except for 2 places.

Oh, one more thing. Please add "View Chest content..." option into "a" ball right-click context menu. It's so damn annyoing to constantly run simple interface just to open it or make shortcuts on desktop (which makes usage of Silent Mode very inpractical). I'm sure it wouldn't take pro coder like guys in ALWIL more than 15 minutes (including break time lol).

I'm afraid it's not that simple. The popup menu handling is somehow "fragile"... and it's very easy to make introduce a bug there. (And if the new item should be translated into 30 languages, you can count a month for it).
What I probably could do (right now) is enable the new item only if a special value appears in avast4.ini... this way the users won't be affected even when there is some problem there.

I'm looking for help of these beta users (I don't have any other info than their ip's):

200-100-115-25.dial-up.telesp.net.br
190-51-167-99.speedy.com.ar
Someone from India from mtnl.net.in with ip 203.94.211.6
20.66.217.87.dynamic.jazztel.es

Their logs contain information we need to check.

TIA

This is some kind of incomplete upgrade - your setiface is older than it should be. Please send file setup.log from avast4\setup directory to setupsupport AT avast DOT com.

If you can also check size of files and their creation / modification / access times, that would be great - we're interested in both setiface.dll and setifaci.ovr

Please also state if you use any other 'security' software.

TIA.

I was told (by forejt) that there was some problem that could cause non-updating of setiface.dll when updating the program from Control Panel. Renaming setiface.ovr to setiface.dll should hopefully help.

No, i installed avast on clean Windows Vista installation. I'm happy to say that now i could update avast from Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Check Updates to this new v4.7.1083 update and after that auto update started to work.  :)

Actually i would go with "skrinjo" instead "virusni zabojnik" too ("chest" is indeed translated "skrinja" in our language). Just make sure to translate all strings into this one and everything should be fine (i noticed one instance in simple GUI but there might be others).
So, it's best to use the text already present on button instead (to avoid longer word and resizing of buttons).

This feature doesn't seem to work under Vista. Or at least recently. avast! updates as usual but no tray icon (those two green and red arrows enclosed in circle). I know they appeared in XP and probably even in Vista. Anyway, check it out if everything is ok.

No need to reinstall. And these betas are usually very stable. We just help polish them to near perfection before they actually release it into public. Or you can simply wait for official release which shout be out very soon.

Unfortunately, this feature will not work under Vista until Avast 5. There's no easy way to fix this (in avast 4.x, the updater and all its GUI run in the context of the service, which is not allowed to draw anything under Vista).

I think stable is the wrong term, this beta version and for the most part the other avast beta versions have been stable. There might well have been hiccups, etc. but for they have still been stable, I haven't had to revert to the 'current' regular release version.

So the update it to the current regular released version as opposed to stable version.

One of Avast's great strengths in terms of stability and general reliability could be summed up as:

Avast! "Beta" = many others "RC"
Avast!  "RC"....  unequalled!

Hi! I'm a bit less into the forum. Just upgraded to the latest beta version 1085 manually. Since my settings are to ask when there is an update, I used to be warned (green square box warning) whenever a new AVAST program version is available. This no longer seems to work... ??? Everything OK for the rest, Nov 2007 corrected (finally...!). Cheers.

It works just fine as regular program updates are cycled over a period of 7 days, to balance server load.

I don't know if that is the same for beta builds as those using the beta builds tend to follow the progress of the beta on the forums and update manually when notified on the forums.

Oh, btw, try to add ShowChestInMenu=1 into AAVM section of avast4.ini ;)

I like this option, though it would be nice to be able to enable it from the GUI, Program Settings, Chest section.

I would also like to see something like this also, ShowHelpInMenu=1, the avast! help file is buried having to open the SUI to access it is too deep, it should be available at the same avast icon menu level. I know you can find it using Start, All Programs, avast! Antivirus, Help, but that is equally deep and most people don't find that either. Many of the questions asked in the forum are covered in the help file.

Yes it is beta, which is why that is clear from the topics title. Program updates aren't released without in house testing and then beta tested before it is released to avast users in the form of a regular program update.

By watching what is going on here, one you know that a program update is in the pipeline as it is being beta tested, so it shouldn't be too long.

There is a number of fixes in this release.
What about a changelog 4.7.1043 >4.7.1074 >4.7.1085 ?
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast-4-home_pro-revision-history.html says nothing.

A change log will only be done for regular released versions not beta versions. 1074 was by all accounts not meant to be a regular release.

Oh, btw, try to add ShowChestInMenu=1 into AAVM section of avast4.ini ;)
Igor is there any possibility of UAC trouble while choosing this option?
I'm not being able to open Chest from the context menu... besides the option is there...

hi tech,
i have added code to AAVM section like igor said and chest open from context menu working
fine for me under os vista 32-bit.
I for my opinion don`t believe that this could be a UAC trouble.

I don't think it has anything to do with UAC - the chest executable is started exactly the same way as log viewer from the same menu.
The menu itself is handled slightly differently... but I wouldn't expect it to fail. Do you use any special theme / gui setting?

Trying again now, nothing... I can start from Enhanced Interface (open the folder) or directly from the exe file. But by the icon on system tray or even right clicking the skin, the Chest is not opening... strange uh?

The beta is now updated to 4.7.1087. This is probably the latest beta before the update goes gold.

BTW all .1083 and .1085 users are forcefully updated to .1087 so don't be surprised when avast asks you for OS restart next time the VPS is updated. :)

I must say that THERE'S NO PROBLEM with avast 1087 (for now)...
The main problem was that before I started to download new version, I accidentally changed my date settings- so that was the problem.
2 moderators: thank You for Your time, and please remove my posts, so people wouldn't think that problem with this version exists :)

You can modify your posts clearing out the text, with a short explanation, e.g. "edited, problem unrelated to beta version" would do.

If posts were removed then replies to the post may seem strange.

Yep, 1089 is now out. Sorry for the load of new builds, the reason is that we're trying to chase down one problem in the updater and this seems to be the only way to stress this part of avast. :)

BTW the update to 4.7.1089 is again forced, i.e. all beta users will have it installed automatically.

Thanks

Yes it just snuck up on me too and the first I knew about it was the avast needs to restart pop-up. As I also have the VPS updates on Ask (and that is the default for program updates) I can't recall even getting a notification on that.

MS get some real stick if they do something like this. I appreciate we are testing the beta but it would be nice to get some advanced notice.

I'm not sure what notification do you mean?

If you replied 'yes' to vps update, you got it bundled with program. There is no way you could get new vps only while there is a forced program update.
Title: Re: *** Introducing: beta version of upcoming avast update (now 4.7.1089)
Post by: DavidR on November 24, 2007, 01:20:54 AM
That is what I'm saying I didn't have a VPS update available 'Ask@ notification (I didn't answer Yes), so I didn't get the beta update piggybacked onto a VPS update as I hadn't had one.

The first and only indication I got was avast needs to restart, at first I thought I had an avast error and not an update.

Yeah, now I understand. Since you were up-2-date, avast 'pinged', checked if there is anything new (there was), and it got the product description where was 1087 marked as forbidden.

This is debatable what is the 'right' action in that very moment. The way of the force we chose, you know  ;D

I'm using 4.7.1089 beta.  It was doing just fine till I got online this morning.  After I got online avast! did an auto-update (tried to), up popped the red square saying error updating.  I tried a manual update, it reported I was already up to date.

Here is another thread about an update failing this morning. http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=31692.0

It doesn't say which version number of avast! he's using.  I'm using the English language version, he is using Dutch.

Several of my file properties still report version .1087 not all files will have been updated, but with a beta build I'm sure they are less concerned with the aesthetics if you look at the about avast that will/should report the correct build. Though you will also notice Alwil have invested in a Time Machine as the build date is Dec2007 (4.7.1091), all of this will get tidied up in due course before a regular release for sure (I hope).

Thanks a bunch.  It would appear that the only thing telling Avast that its version is .1091 are the registry entries.  "Several" would not be adequate in my case - all files show .1087 which I won't worry about just now.  As you say, this will be cleaned up later.  According to my log, whatever happened to me this morning was successful.  I'm just not sure what it was. :)

Windows XP Home SP 2 (full patched)

Just updated the beta program automatically on Vista. So far, no problems. Just asking myself why the program is automatically updating itself with the virus definition file, not separately, since my settings for upgrading to the newest version are "manual" (should be the green box there!). :P

This is a forced update as Vlk mentioned earlier.

Sorry, another forced update is going to happen in a short while (4.7.1091).
Hopefully, the last one.

I apologize for the inconvenience, this is really important to us (the problem we're chasing generates huge traffic on our updating servers and we absolutely need to have it solved).

Thanks David, I would have upgraded anyway, the fastest the better. Only problem is that you are forced to reboot after update but for having AVAST strong and in shape, I'll do that little sacrifice after all!! :)

Why do we hate to boot? ;D
Strange, isn't it? We hate to boot after install anything... seems a lose of time, don't we think?

You are not 'forced' to reboot, there is a choice and you can decline a reboot and do it a convenient time for you. This is most frequently what I do as the reason I'm on-line is because I want to do something (dial-up connection) once I finish what I'm doing I go off-line finish anything else outstanding and only then reboot.

In my well mantained PC the complete shutdown / log on cycle takes no less than 30-45 seconds and often 1 1/2 minutes depending how many programs must be closed and task finished. The same way, the power-on sequence takes about a minute until I can start working - sit on tray are avast!, outlook2007, CFOS and a few more utils and some drivers are loaded via registry.
I think without all that load Windows should restart really really fast.

I sure envy you. What kind of system do you have? I would be surprised if you have mammouth Comodo 3 Firewall... ;)

hi!
I'm running WinXP Pro w/sp2 on a P4 2.4 ghz w/1 g ram, the mobo is a gigabyte with SCSi chipset (not the best out there).

For firewall I use the built-in one. I tried CPF 3 some days ago and I *really* like it, it's a very major version over earlier 2.4. It launches faster than previous version yet it's way more powerfull - and lighter on resources.
Actually I uninstalled it because I don't need a real-and-robust firewall (I used ZA and Tiny for several years, never can do it with Outpost) and sp2 built-in just works fine, but may be I give it a try again when the Spanish version hits the web.

To achieve maximun performance I have deactivated some services I never use/need, do a hard-disk cleanup followed by a registry clean-up and registry defragmentation (TuneUp Utilities) then I run an off-line followed by full/by access on-line hard disk defrag (PerfectDisk 8). Then, make a partition image with Acronis at boot.

One of the things a like more about avast! is its low impact on system performance and its high detection rate - despite some nasty malware I found the other day and avast! didn't recognize it.

See you!

This is why I recommend a real-time on-access anti-spyware software.
Spyware Terminator (http://www.spywareterminator.com/) (free) or SUPERAntiSpyware Professional (http://www.superantispyware.com/) ($)

Hi rdmaloyjr!

Certainly you are right, but being minimalistic as I am I would hate to start adding 'layer' after layer of realtime protection when I can use some experience, a bit of "donkey" common sense and a powerfull solution as avast!. The two malware I already sent to avast! team were .EXE files of about 50k (!!) so it's not hard to think that may be a trick somewhere ;)
Following Tech's instructions I checked both files at www.virustotal.org and found they were a Worm and a Trojan (!) detected by several AVs but not by some of the most well-known reputable AVs.

I resist myself to add layers of real-time protection but I do a weekly scan with Spybot, I will try Spyware Terminator since it's free.

By the way, I think some of these malware can be cold-stopped using some kind of HIPS protection like Comodo Personal Firewall PRO 3 - it's light, it's fast and it's powerfull and it doesn't need any database update.

Tnx 4 your post!

Regards.

SuperAntispyware free is only on-demand. No services running in background.
SpywareTerminator is both on-access (if you choose so) and on-demand. It could integrate an antivirus too (ClamWin) that works with avast. But it will take resources, better like you've said, use both on-demand only.

Interesting I have had my first problem with the beta, though I'm not sure if it is the beta, possibly the new tweaking of the update function, but an auto update failed (with cannot connect Red Pop-up). This is the first time this has happened (outside of my disconnecting the dial-up whilst an update check is in process

Quote
Information about current update:
Last encountered error: Cannot connect to www2[break].avast.com (195.47.75.56:80).

Total time: 5:39

I noticed the www2 difference in the URL as possibly the only difference. I checked the servers.def file and see that these are (external beta) servers.

I have tried a manual update and I'm sat watching my firewall logs as avast.setup (not blocked) cycles through the servers.def URLs as it fails trying to download servers.def.vpu

I'm also seeing the remote address as cat.asw.cz I assume that is where the beta servers are, which begs the question why is the domain shown as www2 . avast.com ?

I can only assume this is the beta update issue that you have been chasing, as:
1. I am connected to the internet.
2. avast.setup is allowed and in the outbound firewall log.
3. there is no http proxy.
4. which only leaves  - the server is inaccessible because of a network error or maintenance.

See attached error log avastUpdErr.txt file.

Hi All!

I'm new to this forum but old avast! user ;) And sorry for my English skills but I'm French lol :D

Just wanted to report that I'm not sure the P2P shield is working correctly...
Even if I download something (via eMule, Bittorrent), it never indicates that at least a file had been scanned, the incremental counter remains on 0 (during the parts' download or when the file is completed).

By the way, I don't think so it is specific to the beta version as I've always seen this behaviour with the P2P shield and previous versions of avast... Now that I'm engaged in this beta testing, I report ;)

So, would it be a bug or may I miss something?

I'm not seeing the provider scanning nothing on XP or Vista ???
Igor, both mine aren't working in XP and Vista... Am I missing something? Shouldn't the part file being downloaded be scanned?

Not a lot (firefox 2 fully up to date), the throber, loading, in the tab is rotating for some considerable time and then it displays a 'The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.' error.

Trying with Avant browser
Status Bar displays, Web site found waiting for a reply, eventually a 404 error is displayed, which being Avant then displays a different page, see image 3.

I even tried with IE6 and I hate using IE.
The status bar displays the same as Avant and ends in a The page cannot be displayed error.

Hello there :)

Just want to say that I'm new to the forum, but I'm using avast over a year now. Currently I'm running the newest beta, noticed no problems ( with the stable 1074 I had some problems on XP SP2 PRO).

OK, that's said. I really want to thank all the avast! Team for this great AV. Keep up the good work. Waiting for new stable version and v5 of a!AV :)

David, had encounter possibly the same problem, try to disable all services in avast, then check if pages will load. If they do, turn on again the resident shield, but in the www shield erase the http port riderection, that is set to port 80. This should help...

Avk, You aren't using the beta version of avast and this topic is about the beta version. So you should post any problem you have/had in a new topic not one that is related to the beta version of avast. Blanking the redirect port is effectively the same as what I did Terminate the web shield provider.

It is Windows XP SP2 (w/ Vista skin)

Should i see a processus in the task manager corresponding to the P2P Shield?
At the moment, I can only see: ashDisp.exe / ashMaiSv.exe / ashWebSv.exe / aswUpdSv.exe

Let me know if you need a log or something else ;)

You're welcome.
But as far I can remember, I'd had the same issue with the non beta... It may be specific to my system (even so if Tech's computer have the same issue)...
Just double-check on your side ;)

I used Universal UXTheme Patcher v2.1 and apply the theme that I copied in the %SystemRoot%/Ressources/Themes folder (theme made by Francisco Javier Ocasio from studiotwentyeight.com: It disappeared because of problems with Microsoft... but I can provide it to you if needed)

Just tried with the original theme, nothing better...

1095 slows startup of computer dramatically down, many minutes.

I agree that the boot duration is now extended on my system to two minutes before avast activity has stopped.

I don't know what has been changed, but it is certainly more than hunting the update bug.

Prior to this beta update my scanned total at the point avast activity has stopped was 125 files scanned (4.7.1091). Now after 4.7.1095 the scanned total was 271 at the same point, a second reboot saw this total at 264, so the number of files scanned has more than doubled for me. That is with the Troubleshooting 'Delay loading of avast! services after other system services' set, which I also had with the 4.7.1091 settings.

So what else changed other than the hunt for the update bug ?
Title: Re: *** Introducing: beta version of upcoming avast update (now 4.7.1091)
Post by: igor on December 01, 2007, 01:37:47 AM
Yes, the number of scanned files at startup will be higher temporarily; the whitelist has been modified (since Vlk found some issues there).
The algorithm has been changed in the latest beta, in the anticipation of the final update. When the update is released, the whitelist will be changed in the VPS as well (which will result on higher number of scanned files for the non-updated programs).

However, I don't think it should cause that big slowdown (minutes) as described. Scanning something like 150 files cannot take that long...   ???
Title: Re: *** Introducing: beta version of upcoming avast update (now 4.7.1091)
Post by: DavidR on December 01, 2007, 01:45:35 AM
Well the many minutes was reported by olddane, mine was two minutes overall which included all 271 files and not just 150.

I hadn't timed my boot for a long time but I would say it was a little over a minute 70-80 seconds so my boot duration is extended but not massive. But for some two minutes or more is unbearable torture, me I do something else.
Title: Re: *** Introducing: beta version of upcoming avast update (now 4.7.1091)
Post by: igor on December 01, 2007, 01:49:30 AM
I counted the difference (in the number of files), not the whole number.
But still... scanning even 300 files should be a matter of a few seconds, not minutes.

Hi,

Sorry, I made a mistake by reporting that the scanned files counter doesn't increment in eMule. It is working fine with eMule.

But still no incrementation with Bittorrent (official client v6.0 Build 5535) and last beta 4.7.1095...
Any idea/progress on your side Vlk? Is it specific to my computer?

Hi folks, long time no chat :)

Just thought I should mention that I installed the beta .1096 and as far as the Zonealarm with Vista issue goes, it's still the same problem (slow for each connections).

I know it's a ZA bug (that they just won't fix as far as I can see .. no new update since June!  :-[ ) so it's back to the Vista Firewall for me.. which seems to do a decent job considering.

Tried PCTools firewall, but found pretty serious bugs (V:*.exe were detected as D:*.exe by their firewall.. so the apps from my V: drive could never access the internet.. major major bug as far as I'm concerned)... also trying to fix it, they replied to me on average once every 7-10 days.  It didn't stay long on my PC.

As for Comodo 3.x, I'll wait a few months after reading their forums.

Still, for my usage, the Vista FW is enough.. no problems in the last 6 months and I do tons of browsing.  And having AVast there helps a lot when it comes to my feeling secure enough :) Thanks!.

Regards...

_Rej_

Forgot to mention that this version works as the last one, meaning without a glitch (didn't have any issues with Vista x32 and AVast release version when using the Vista FW).

i got once crash with 1095 build ... it already happened to me before in previous beta batch (some months ago) and once or twice with retail version

i'm using quickscan on .zip archives where i get known / unknown samples of malware

avast detects first malware and i click to continue w/o any action (no action) , avast detect second i repeat and then i get ashquick crash in ntdll.dll

it's very rare and random crash and i think it's somehow related to how 'fast' i click on the no action button

i'm unable to replicate it

anyone else noticed this ?

I just tried a manual program update only for it to report I'm up to date with 4.7.1096, tried it again ans second time lucky it is now recognising I need to update. The initial download 721,384 bytes is progressing quicker than I recall with dial-up and completed phase one. Now starting the big push, av_pro_core-3f4.vpu, etc. etc. total 5,997,633 bytes, yawn, I'm of for something to eat :D

I would have though so it would be crazy to release the update if it hadn't and have millions of users update only to have to do it again later or cause issues with the servers.

I'm guessing it was.

Total time taken for update from 1096 --> 1098 for me was 31 seconds.  I know I am closer to the servers than some but that delivery suggests they are not overloaded right now.

Mind you Alan, we are getting in early where only those on the forums or those receiving push updates are likely to be hitting the servers, but I have just had a 250KB+ VPS update drop in and that was fairly quick.

You are quite right David, but I was surprised at the avast report that it had taken only 31 seconds for me compared with Tech's > 5 minnutes.

I shall leave my older system for a few days and see what happens with it.

By the way belated congratulations on your relatively new status - sorry I missed it earlier.

A pity tis that in this supposedly English language forum you now have a repugnant title not unlike that of an SS stormtroop commander.

Whatever is wrong with an English term like Archevangelist or perhaps more modern Superevangelist (leaving room for Ultraevanagelst when you and Tech get older)?  Maybe more recent and sadder history still sways thought in Prague.

I think I made very clear I have a problem with that prefix.

Not with the fact that it is non-english but it's use as a prefix in far too many terms in the mid 20th century that are well recorded in history and are totally repugnant to many of us who have family members that gave their lives or their blood to overcome the evil regime (and its cohorts of that time) that used those words so prolifically to define their superiority over their fellow humans.

Every time I see it I am offended.  It has not stopped me contributing - but it has not stopped me being offended either.  I wonder if we have any contributors here from Israel - if we do ... do they care?

Then, i can hate the USA. USA aproved the fascist regime of General Franco in Spain, no? Franco killed a lot of people, and the USA aproved because were comunist people. Hipocresy made in USA  ;D
But not, i don't hate USA or their people.

A language is a language and their words, not actions made by people who speak thaht language.

Vlk,

I apologize for provoking a political discussion in this thread.  I shall post no further on this in the forum.

I am not aware of an evangelist corner ... if you would care to direct me to it by personal message ....

Later edit...

Sorry for the blindness too ... I just found it.

By the way belated congratulations on your relatively new status - sorry I missed it earlier.

A pity tis that in this supposedly English language forum you now have a repugnant title not unlike that of an SS stormtroop commander.
<snip>

Thank you.

Personally I have no problem with it I don't believe there is any underlying meaning or purpose. I spent three enjoyable tours of duty in Germany and numerous exercises, where we were working with the German Armed Forces and the use of Über relates to a Rank rather than any Branch or Arm of the forces (Stormtrooper Comander, long defunct) or political policy.

I don't even know if Alwil choose it or the other forum grades including Evangelist or if it is just one of a ;ist that can be chosen using the SMF forum software.

Aren't the users 'checked' if they're Evangelists or not before being allowed to that area?
What's the matter if people has the address and can't enter on it?
I can't believe someone that knows the address could freely enter there...

Ok...thanks for updating the page, but still the changelog for the previous version it's missing, and I would be glad to know what was changed in that version (the one after 4.7.1043). Thank you very much.

Yes, it returns 10 results for avast.com and www.avast.com

I checked now the 2 pages and seems to be the same. What was the problem?

Not on our side. All ten servers are 100% in sync (this is verified automatically after server's update) and all ten serve both avast.com / www.avast.com

Must be some borken cache / proxy on your side.
