Yep, 1089 is now out. Sorry for the load of new builds, the reason is that we're trying to chase down one problem in the updater and this seems to be the only way to stress this part of avast. :)

BTW the update to 4.7.1089 is again forced, i.e. all beta users will have it installed automatically.

Thanks
Vlk

Vlk, is there any possibility of the problem I'm experiencing trying to install Comodo firewall is related to avast in anyway?

OK who snuck a new one out now 1089  ;D

Yes it just snuck up on me too and the first I knew about it was the avast needs to restart pop-up. As I also have the VPS updates on Ask (and that is the default for program updates) I can't recall even getting a notification on that.

MS get some real stick if they do something like this. I appreciate we are testing the beta but it would be nice to get some advanced notice.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.4.6112 (build 24.4.9067.762) UI 1.0.803/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

I'm not sure what notification do you mean?

If you replied 'yes' to vps update, you got it bundled with program. There is no way you could get new vps only while there is a forced program update.

That is what I'm saying I didn't have a VPS update available 'Ask@ notification (I didn't answer Yes), so I didn't get the beta update piggybacked onto a VPS update as I hadn't had one.

The first and only indication I got was avast needs to restart, at first I thought I had an avast error and not an update.

Yeah, now I understand. Since you were up-2-date, avast 'pinged', checked if there is anything new (there was), and it got the product description where was 1087 marked as forbidden.

This is debatable what is the 'right' action in that very moment. The way of the force we chose, you know  ;D

It's quite rare problem when there is a full vps (10MB) downloaded instead of differential vps updates (few KBs).

So would it help at all if if uninstalled Avast and reinstaled it ? To see if the synptoms happen ?

I don't think so. This is very rare and usually happens for people from certain countries (mostly Latin America / Far East). We are not sure what may be the reason and we're not able to reproduce it on our systems.

Me too. Any possibility of having its installation debugged or traced back?
Thanks for the help. Hoping that you don't stay that much time without releasing your own firewall... ::)
