Recommend avast! and get Internet Security for free

Hi MartinZ,

I just want to make sure I'm following the instructions in the right way in order to get the credits to try the Avast Internet Security suite. I shared the link from my recommendations page with a friend, who installed it and is using it and another friend used the link on my facebook page (he also installed it and is using it). That was around 2 days ago BUT the invitation status in my avast page still shows a big 0, so I'm wondering if I missed anything...? I just want to know before I continue recommending Avast this way. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Same problem: I have already  recommended Avast! to 5 users wich activated their copy, but in my avast board it shows only 2 recommendations counted since 2 weeks! (the 48 hours widely elapsed).
So the question: is the recommendation system broken? or is it simply ended? Will this issue be solved? Could we recover the missed points? if so, when?
Please reply, we need to know if we are recommending avast for nothing.

I thought I was recommending avast! because it's an excellent product and something my friends should be using.
Earning points and getting a free license to Internet Security is something I look upon as a bonus.

bob3160: I've never said that there were something wrong with "your" philosophy since it is not only "yours", we are all satisfied of this excellent software, you should know that I'm using it since avast! 4 and I'd always recommended it for its excellent detection performances compared to other products, not for the free internet security licences.
So, in my own opinion,it is entirely legitimate to report an issue with the avast recommendation program, especially when it concerns a lot of users.
A forum is also used for this purpose.

It is probably due to the fact that English is your second language.
My reply was prompted by the phrase "we need to know if we are recommending avast for nothing."
Reporting problems and getting them solved is exactly what this forum is for.

I have alerted that most probably there is a problem in the recommendation system. But we need a technical solution.
All that I know is that the recommendation points get some time to be replicated along the servers.

Hi all,

we recently launched a  recommendation program, it's still in "open beta" so any feedback is appreciated.
The recommending is simple:

Create or login to your avast account

Go to the Recommendations section
https://my.avast.com/recommendation

Share the unique link via social networks or email.

When somebody installs avast using your unique link and start using avast, you will get a credit for it and see it on your dashboard. (this can be delayed up to 24 hours after the installation)

Hi, I recommended to 3 persons I know Avast (one is my wife, she's got her laptop and I hope I know her). Still, at the page where the RECOMMENDATIONS are I've got the message "This feature is undergoing maintenance. Please, check back later. " Is anybody else experiencing this?

They were fixing the recommendation system, yes.
If you "lost" your recommendations after some days, please, post back and complain

As I refurbish older computers I was always installing Avast as the preferred free Anti-Virus software, and until the last update I was recommending Avast to everyone (didn't care about any freebie upgrade, it was simply the best free program available).

Unfortunately the newest version is bugged so until the issues are fixed I'm currently just putting MS Security Essentials on the PC's I'm working with for the moment, and not recommending it to anyone. At all.

I have personally downloaded and installed avast, using the following link:

...on three of my friends computer (all of which live in a different household). I also made sure it was registered before I finished helping them with their computer issues.

I however have not received credit for the referrals. Frankly I am frustrated because I intentionally took the time to help these individuals knowing that I would get to change the virus program they were using to what I believe to be, a superior program. I however, wanted to get credit for my referrals.

May you please look into this issue?

Also, is there an easier way to report these things. After these 3, I will be 1 more away from my license. I fear it will be the same story though and I might never get the license I deserve.

It worked well for me, i managed to get three 3 years licenses, but for some time it's not working, I think I already surpassed the number of recommendations for the  4-th 3 year license, but in the recommendation window it says I got only two recommendations...somewhat disappointing ((
